A letter goes out the afternoon of the thirteenth to the rest of the Myrken Wood Councilors and Governor Bromn. No formal salutations are given save addresses of each, but in the body of the letter, in Aloisius Treadwell's hideous penmanship, the following. . . .

To my fellow Council members and Governor Bromn,
Greetings.
It has come to my attention quite recently that Myrken Wood apparently fails to hold an official post of Myrken Wood Historian. Given the rather poor shape of our library's holdings, and given the fact that so many in Myrken fail to know anything of their own past or heritage, I hereby propose the creation of such a post.
The title should be something akin to Historian of Myrken Wood or some such. Duties would entail keeping accurate records of events major and mundane in Myrken Wood on at least a weekly basis, with particularly important moments recorded immediately. Some connection to the Library of Mudd would need to be established, as well--custodian, caretaker, checker of records for accuracy, et cetera. Last, but certainly not in the least, the Historian of Myrken Wood would also need act as official scribe for Council meetings, a position that has floundered and flopped about from Council members to briefly seated scribes to. . . well, I'm not entirely sure who currently holds this role!
And, in closing, I have the perfect man for the job working with me currently at my toy store: Bartholomew Orin Roland Edward Drivel, the Third. He is an experienced historian, it seems, a well-learned scholar, a well-travelled student of a great many things, a jovial chap, and, lastly, close family of mine. I can certainly vouch for his character and talents, as well as introduce him to each of you as time permits; any inquiries regarding his status, abilities, et cetera can be directed to me or to him at Tready's and Drivel's Toys.
Aloisius H. Treadwell
Councilor of Administrative Sanctions
