True Faith

Many dismissed the people of the Violet Dawn as strange but harmless eccentrics, caught up in some new fashion or even cult, in light of all the dark happenings that painted the tapestry of Myrken's history dark and bloody. At worst their new focus and idle chatter were annoyances that truly did border on heresy of the One Faith but it seemed to goad them into a sense of social justice that refused to be silenced.

It also gave them enough courage to flout the law, those who felt so inclined, because they no longer feared the Ashfiend nor the exposure of helping a fellow human - but nor did they fear the reach and grasp of the law. Some said it was the logical outworking of such dangerous teaching. Others claimed it happened with any and every philosophy and religion.

Yet from now on the Violet Dawn would no longer be ignored. From the day of their secret meeting, gathered together as a congregation in full for the first time since any had listened to or heard of Vraal's teachings, a miracle had happened that none could truly deny. Some took it as a sign that everything they taught was indeed true. others only claimed it as evidence that they were a cult among cults and should be put down.

The private lot of their compound, an orphanage, school and temple, sat along the outer edge of Myrkentown, itself separated by a small stone wall not even the height of half a man. Yet in the garden planted and tended by orphans and teachers a new greenness had come to its plants and lushness to soil and crops. Vegetables out of season swelled to impressive proportions overnight, and continued to do so, the staunch claim of a frenzied faith that had changed the eyes of every one who had attended.

They claimed their eyes had been opened, and each had found new purpose. Each had also found a new marking of their flesh in the form of a violet circle centered upon their foreheads. And they began to sing the praises of The Ascendant One, the manifestation of their collective divine will through which all things were possible. As any could plainly see.

Many who saw their prayers finally answered, tangibly and readily, immediately donated their property to the Violet Dawn. Their properties were held in trust by a local barrister none had ever heard of and amounted to a small but significant amount of land to rent or sell, along with the power such possessions had in and of themselves.
