Bounty.

It was the little things, small things.

As this new Regime, like any, was plagued with fire, with discontent and muttering, it too could be given a breath, a fresh breath, a time when everything falls just so into place. When it is not people, but Nature itself, that wishes to smile it's benevolence, when it seems to grant Rhaena's realm with the boons of a God.

The sun has been too fierce this summer, the farmsmen grimly say, and they would know, for they have broken their backs enough times dipping water from wells and irrigated canals to keep the crops in moisture. Yet now, as high summer unfurls and the summer crops must be gathered to plant for the fall, not even the oldest gaffer could explain the sheer mass of what is gathered, the great rolls of corn and beans, melons and turnips, carrots, vegetables of every size. The trees groan under the weight of their growing apples.

And it is not just crops, but livestock, of both farmhouse and town. Sheep give birth to extra lambs, and two - or even three - have become the rule, not the exception. The narrow-made sheep suffer hardships, and yet, none die in childbirth, and not even the promised extra work is needed, for there seems to be plentiful milk for all. The goats birth extra kids, the swine are fairly bursting with piglets, and even a few promiscuous cattle are growing big with another set of calves. Women, who have knitted but one set of socks, now find - with mingled dismay and pride - that they must knit yet another. The woodsmen say there is a bumper crop of deer, of wild boar - even of wolves - and that the Autumn should see plenty of game.

The farmsmen cannot explain it, but part of them don't wish to. The younger set, perhaps, their eyes full of jealousy and stars at the town-folk, could gossip about how it is sure sign that Lady Rhaena is something sorely needed. The older, more cynical set say nothing of the sort.

But only the most learned among them wonders.
