She gave him a puzzled look at the comment about her purse. It was a subtle truth after all and she hadn't quite caught how he managed it.
"What did you.." But the carriage had stopped and it was time for them to assume their roles again. She shifted a bit in her now too tight dress. She wouldn't need to be uncomfortable for long after all. She just needed to remember to check her purse when she had a free chance..
She took a deep breath, or at least as deep as she could as the carriage door opened.
"Why thank you Mr. Tettlepot. I mean Tettlepont. Really, that name of yours, you should have it changed." She didn't look at him. If she did she knew that she'd laugh. She placed her hand gently in his and stepped from the carriage into the sunlight that warmed the pleasant little garden party that was already under way.
"I do love a good party. Now then, I believe I should gain myself an introduction. Don't dawdle Tettlepont." She made her way towards where the other guests had gathered then, moving with all the grace an airs of a high born woman. Someone with stature, or more importantly, someone with money.
