Departure

Departure

The last bag was packed, and the windows shuttered and
boarded tight. Kildrummy took a final look about the inside of
the cottage and then walked out into the sunlight with the
bag. He set it on the bench by wall before he locked the door
before nailing some planks of wood across the doorway to
seal it shut.
"Done." He tossed the hammer on the bench, retrieved
the bag and moved to his horse. There was nothing left to
hold him here in Myrken Wood, not that there had been much
in the first place. A letter had been left with a priest in town
along with a small package, both addressed to the seamstress
heron|terrene. If she wished to depart the area as well, she
would now possess ample funds to do so. Certain other items
had been left to Tyralor McDougal. And so, his affairs here
were settled. He'd maintain ownership of the cottage, but
he wasn't sure he'd ever return this way.
It was a matter of a few minutes to secure the last bag
to the pack atop his spare mount, and then the man calling
himself Hugh Muir, Laird of Kildrummy, mounted his horse
and rode away from Myrken Wood.
Do you know the wish of your heart?
