Quick and Efficient.

The steel of swords came togethor in intelligent strikes and parries; their owners dressed in the uniform of the Order of Straka, the protectors of Myrken Wood. While they were cunning fighters in their own right, the new Captain, Alexander Kanashia, was expecting more from them. It was for this reason that he wanted to extend their training further, and under a new teacher. There was already one in mind.

With hands clasped behind his back, emerald eyes skimmed over the training guards; watching the brave men and women compete with each other and themselves to become their fullest. Rayin Talioferro had done an excellent recruiting job, but in these pressing times, the need for more than 200 men was quite apparent.

Sounds of arrows released from their bows, and the dull thunk of a direct hit. Many missed on their first shots, but it didn't take long for them to warm up and begin to show off their prowess. Still, this was against an immobile target; how well would they fare when it was a living being the arrow was aimed for; and they had the ability to fight back if the shot missed?

These worries could not be dismissed, as it was not a game; people's lives were at stake. Another volley of arrows, and his attentions shifted to the select few who were now training on horseback. Four of them; two with longblades and another two with arrows. There would need to be a small company of cavalry, that was for certain.

So much was needed, but what they needed most was time. The armies had not made a move yet, and seemed quiet. How unnerving it was in actuality. What were they waiting for? Though suspicions ran amuck in Alexander's mind, he couldn't complain about the time it was giving him to find his place in the Order, and for the Judiciary Council to get everything situated.

For lack of a better phrase, the threats to Myrken had caught the leaders of the town "with their pants down." It was a stretch to say they were ready for everything at once, but it was not a stretch to say they could not meet the challenges and come out with a great victory; whether the battle be of politics or of men.

Soon, a young man dressed in uniform came up behind the Captain and hesitantly asked, "Sir. Someone is here requesting your presence." Again, more meetings. He had just finished up three this morning before he came out, and in the middle of his evaluation another one came up.

"Tell them I'm on my way," answered Alexander. The vanilla scent clinged to his form; a subtle scent that he had found the Governor had a certain ... dislike for. And thoughts then spurred to how Phuri felt about Kanashia being captain, since there was no love between the two, and Alexander was positive that the Governor did not want to resort to hiring him.

As Alexander was leaving the training grounds, and moving back towards the office building, the fluidness and efficiency things were happening occured to him. Already there was someone he had in mind of hiring to the Guard, someone who could help train his men; as well as the knowledge that he had skilled people under his command. Also, the moving of Phlynn from the Gaol to the cell above ground went smoother than ever thought possible.

A new Gaol was already well underway of being built, thanks to the involvement of Prince Talioferro, and it would not be long until the construction was finished and prisoners would be moved.

Inside the office, which Alexander had yet to turn into his own little place; however, he had an assistant put all the paperwork into perfect organization and give the room a very detailed cleaning. Not to say it was disorganized or unkempt before, as Rayin was surely a good man, but Alexander had impeccable standards for tidyness; one could say it bordered on obsessive compulsive.

As he stepped into that new, recently cleaned office he took one look at the chair in front of his desk, and emerald eyes rested on the soul sitting there. A grimace took shape over the features of Alexander.
I refuse to believe this is as good as it gets.
