Two Problems, Three Queries.

Two Problems, Three Queries.

Kerrak,

Recived word today of an assassin's intrest in Inquisitor Aleksei River. Sent here to Myrken by command of the liege of River's homeland, brings
with him a small escort of guards knights babysitters and e.t.c. Estimaytd arrival one week from now soonest. Escort and assassin equipped with
magicking their intention to subdue and retrieve or else I suspect kill.

Nither they nor the man who brings this news are aware of the Inquisitor's present location.

That man, also of this homeland his name is Mikhail Rain, claims friendship with the Inquisitor. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen,
resonable to assume he is also fit with magicking. I intend to have him lodged and guarded, this may not be feesabul or even practical. Any thoughts on how
to proceed are welcome, in Agnieszka's absence it is just we two.

Ludgings are required for a guest of questionable motifs. Not a cell but something which is both comfortable and welcoming
and which can also be readily guarded. Please advice.

Are you aware of a trial recently staged and concluded? I would be a grateful recipient of any details you might possess.
With my sympathies on your recent Rememdium visit,

Another letter arrived. They had come more frequently lately; some were from superiors, while others were from anyone but. He humored all of them, of course, if only that one of them would report back to say what a wonderful Constable he was. Still, as he gathered the quill and parchment, he thought nothing of how he could use a lesson or two regarding Myrken grammar or spelling.

Marshall Emory of the Myrken Defense Committee,

Thank you for writing me. As you are alreadee aware, the Constubulary are happy to help with request like these when defense is needed.

While it may seem oveeus, I would sugest the Broken Dagger. Rooms are availabul, comfortabul and welcomeing as you require, and it's just as easy to post a gard there as well. Be that many gards visit there anyway to enjoy the drink, it's just as easy to post them on duty. More so, the post can be suttle, to not alarm your guest.

I also offer my servuses. I currently stay at the tavern and it would be an honor to assist in this.

Let me know your thoughts and I will make arrangements.

The letter is finally looked over and frowned over and, truthfully, eaten over. Crumbs are soon brushed away, though, and Treadwell resumes at the bottom of the page, below Ariane's message.

Trial, Marshal? How recent are we talking? As you so note above, I was in the Rememdium for much of the last three weeks. If it's been any time in there, I certainly don't know about it, and, well, otherwise, I still don't. I haven't been in on any particular trial recently, at least. I'm the tax collector, not a traveling circuit judge. Leave that to my elder brother, Langley, but he's retired from it all the same. What seems to be the problem?

A. H. T.

= = = = =

The letter is sealed again with a blotch of wax and a heavy thump of Treadwell's own seal--a simple "Tr" in the wax--and then it is sent on its merry way back to whence it came.

Make arrangements. The tavern's proepriutor, Sera Dullsy, will surely proof glad to provide whatever you may see fit.
Our guest's name is Mikhail Rain. He is a knight in service to his Crown, member of a distinguished unit selected
from hundreds, his talent for magicking and swordplay is not to be underestimated. Further details will follow
as nesessary.

Collect him from the Meetinghouse at your convenience, he will be held there until your arival.

As to time: this passed week. Perhaps there was some talk perhaps there was none, perhaps you might make inquiries. A woman was condemned, in a manner described to me as ""outside the reasonable means of the law"". Do you see that I haf some concern. With my gratitude, as I understand very well this is not your domain, nevertheless there is not a Councilor seated in whome I place more trust than yourself.
