It was rather startling how she bounced between chastised and familiar, and it was almost in the most inappropriate of times, too. She finally brings up that it could be something of an international incident. "To be fair, after all the trouble Aeryn and the Eight caused us, I think they deserved a little bit of Catch. Cristoph always deserves a pie in the face, metaphorical or otherwise." A breath. "And it's not like Burel ever responded to my last missive to him. Hopefully this doesn't raise too many questions about Catch. I would think Lamai, better than anyone, would know to not let him become an object of attention for the power brokering Thessholes."

"As for Rhaena," And there was a little look for Genny now. This WAS his bethrothed she was talking about. "It's hardly punishment. Consider it part of your further tutelage, both in your gift, and of that I cannot stress the importance of not delving forward untrained, and in more general affairs. As I said, Myrken is a place where a woman may have more opportunities than elsewhere, and in arenas where her womanhood is not front and center, but that does not mean you won't need poise and grace now and again. It's another tool. See it as that. You'll assist Rhaena with the Foundation and train with her, as she sees fit, on top of your increased presence with the Inquisitory." Then a pause and a not unkind smile. "Unless this is too much for you and doesn't give you enough time to frolic about with that guard of yours?"

So much visually had changed, surely there had been other changes too. Perhaps there was good cause for erratic behavior? Her excitement to be home. The pride in having a skill that might be valuable. The sheer need she may have felt in divulging the details of her sabbatical to a friend, especially one showing interest, one who might even benefit from the knowledge of events that transpired. Confidence perhaps, gained from a stylish new wardrobe and hair grown out. Or was it all of these and something more, folded and shoved, crammed too tight in the shell of her skull.

"With luck," questions about Catch would prove troublesome. The problem being, Catch's sheer presence and display of animalistic behavior; his utter transformation, certainly introduced new questions to her, let alone to curious parties in Thessilane. 'Thessholes,' really Glenn? At least he had no fear to speak plainly.

As for Rhaena, a sweeter smile returns, edging towards defensive and apologetic, "I-I only meant..." Again, there was some difficulty finding the right word. When nothing came she shrugged defeatedly, "shopping." Genny was very fond of Rhaena, less so for the ritualistic behavior of scouring shops, haggling vendors, and visiting merchants. It was hard to say they were friends because they saw one another so little, but there was hardly a person in Myrken Genny couldn't get along with. Well, one, but siblings aside wasn't she amicable?

The rest is either agreeable or she doesn't see fit to argue. That is, all but the last.

"On the contrary, I... you and your fiancé might now have time to do as much," actually saying 'frolic' seemed a step too far. Perhaps it was a bit too presumptuous to say that her help would have such an impact that he would actually have free time. But that made for two presumptuous parties and neither an entirely accurate assessment of the other's situation.

"Good." The returned barb was ignored. She had the time. Good. That was that. "In that case, tomorrow you can start reviewing the updated files on Catch, the demon situation, and the strange being who seems to have Renea's soul. I'd rather direct you towards something that will broaden your horizons a bit more, but very likely you'll be of most immediate use working with Cinnabar with Catch. I think you'll greatly approve of the methods he's suggesting and be a boon to him in executing them." Not executing Catch, mind. That was still plan C, despite it all. Or D. Eternal sleep might be plan C.

"Rhaena's already eagerly looking forward to spending some time with you." Unsettling wasn't it? The full potential of such skill. Within minutes of her telling him this, he had already worked things out with Rhaena WHILE still speaking with Genny. "I've stressed to her your need to be.. functional in dress. In fact, I think you'll end up with something closer to an official uniform." A long exhale, not quite exasperated. "Or at least a middle ground." Then, his voice getting far more serious. "Genevieve. I cannot begin to stress the seriousness of restraint and proper training with your ...newfound gift. You are lucky enough to have a very experienced teacher here, one who is eager to work with you in many, many ways. What seems like a gift could easily become a curse if not controlled properly. I know this firsthand and will say it repeatedly until I am satisfied that you understand."

Jabs, joking, and aberrant behavior aside she nodded, accepting her assignment(s). Thankful that if anyone was assigned to 'work' on Catch, it was she. Well, unless plan C or D were ever deemed necessary to execute. Gods forbid.

As for Glenn's simultaneous communication with Rhaena it was unsettling, yes. More than anything it made her excited to possess a skill equally as refined. Though it did make one wonder at the threshold of the membrane, what kept a person from unloading all the contents of their mind?

At the mention of a uniform there is almost a smile of relief, instead she merely watches. Examining the almost-exasperation, even though she cannot hear what appears to be an argument between the two of them its seems plain. It was best to leave the matter, plus, apparently others dressed her better than she could of her own accord. Might as well submit to the fact, not that she had much of a chance as Glenn issued his stern warning. And she listened, well, in fact.

He assumed it wasn't a curse already. The matter aside, she nodded with equal solemnity, "I know." The gravity of training, the consequences, of Glenn's own trials? She made no indication, save the seriousness in her tone. "I do... I am... thank you Glenn."

[Glenn]

"Just work hard, be smart, and stay safe, Genevieve." He was already looking back down to his papers, the clear sign that a meeting with Glenn Burnie was basically over. Still, there was maybe one thing. "Oh, it's probably best if you review the file we have on Galacia Tarin as well. You'll forgive me for taking advantage of personal connections, but after reading it, I would appreciate if you sent a letter to Lamai, not mentioning my name, asking more information about her. Come up with something less than suspicious, like that you came across a file on her, saw Lamai's name, and got curious. Best not to mention your new gifts too, unless you don't want to use them until you're grey in the hair."

[Tolleson]

"Yes, of course." There is a hint of skepticism, but not much. Glenn Burnie was good at what he did and when he said not to do something a certain way, it was wise to listen.

Taking note of his shift and return to the papers she rounded the chair and collected her bag, using both hands to heft it up; preparing to depart as well. "I will ... leave these out front... I've read... well, Aleksei might find something useful."

A step or two from the door, and without accident, Genny turned back and watched a moment.

"I am happy... I mean... it... it is good to see you well Glenn," and with so many new assignments she might not seem him directly again for some time. Still, she was terribly sincere in her affection, but left no sooner than she'd said it.

There was work to be done in Myrken.
