Catchism: Take Me Not to Devil's Den

[ed: True Colours Manifest ]

There was a lapse, perhaps, with the place that Rhaena called home. Surely, with the fires, the Constabulary and the Inquisitors would have set a heavy, watchful eye on the estates of Governor Glenn and Lady Rhaena Burnie.

Yet, as the day breaks, there is the body wrapped up in a quilt.

Not a dead body. Mangled, clearly enough. His wounds were half-healed things, crusted over, showing the bare beginnings of infection. Once-graceful hands had been ruined, shredded to ribbons. His flame-red hair was crusted with darker, more sinister blood, making it the color of an eye-shot sun. It is Tennant's body, unconscious, very nearly destroyed. But his pulse his strong. His mind is less so. The flesh had been entirely willing, but the mind had been weak.

There is a thick horse-glue smeared across his forehead. Stuck in the middle, with a child's shaking hand, was a blank scrap of parchment, rolled into the semblance of a horn.

The parchment is one of those seen pasted around town, and almost immediately torn away. It read, simply, 'do you still know who you are'.
