Demon Scorned

Whispers. There were whispers, all over town. Murmurs behind hands or closed doors. One never knew who was listening at that very moment.

"Did you hear? Did you hear about Lady Olwak's trapper?"

The creature, the Not-Niall came to an abrupt stop within a shadowed alley, just around the corner from two young woman whispering to one another. Two women with hats and brushed hair. With pretty, but plain dresses that they would occasionally adjust as if uncomfortable within the trappings they were forced to wear. She tilted her head to strain her ears - allowing Niall to listen in as well.

"She was hanging up posters. Those posters we've seen all over town. She was taken to the Lady! Beaten and whipped, hung in those stocks right there! Vanished without a trace in the night."

A low gasp from the other woman in response to her companion's gossip, as the creature's eyes narrowed to slits. Hands clenched, nails digging into her palms as she trembled with fury.

"Fallen from grace, she has. Never seen with Sir Elliot anymore. Sad, really." The two, conversation finished, would leave the shadows to continue their trek onward.

"The mind-witch will pay for that, Niall," came the soft vow as she creature stared upon the empty stocks that the two girls had been whispering about.

That night, there was flame. Fire that was purposefully set, attempting to claim the stocks to erase the evidence of the wildling's blood from its stained boards.

And in this, the demon and the girl whose body it inhabited were in perfect accord.
