Jinni stood within her shop..... Her shop it was , even though it was only rented, it was hers. A smile curved her lips and she leant her broom against the counter, hands dusting themselves off on her apron. Framed in the window with the sun's rays fading from the sky she was unaware of the sweet picture she presented. Stray scralet tinted tendrils of raven, brushed her cheek, having escaped the confines of both braid and headscarf, simple dove grey gown making her form all the more enicing, for it draped her curves in concealment.

Rich loam depths trailed over the room, dust had been banished, swept right out the door, both upstairs and down. Even though the low shelves were empty, already she could see them with bolts of fabric stacked upon their boards, the colors and feel so real to her. Dancing steps were taken across the floor towards the backrooms, the short hallway where the stairs were. Hand paused on the banister and she glanced into the kitchen, laughter spilled from he lips as it dawned on her she would gt to practise the skills her father had told her she would never need, but allowed her to learn anyway. But that was something for tomorrow, right now she had letters to write before the sun was gone completely.

Waiting is hard.

Postby Sherazade » Sun Jan 27, 2008 9:00 am

It had been 5 days now, since Jinni had written letters home, and she was finding the time dragged by. Fingers plyed a crochet hook, lace growing at a steady pace beneath her deft touch., It helped if she kept busy.

Sitting in a simple wooden chair, upon the porch of her shop, she was presenting an air, that would not be out of place in a ladies Solar.

Raven tresses were turned glossy, by the sun's golden rays, the scarlet tinting, shimmering like blood., spilled in gentle, barely curled wave over her shoulders. Simple gown of crimson, making pale fawn complexion, seem closer to ivory in shade. Quiet understated elegance, was another way to describe her, as she worked and watched the street. She was waiting for Rhaena, and anxious to view the fabrics, for it mean't she could open, and knowing it was soooo close made the waiting harder.

The Shelves were all stocked, threads and trimmings in place, she was ready to open. Chocolate dephts dropped to hte parchement resting beneath her hand. the wording was perfect.... and the hand written script elegant.

Rolling it up, she gathered up the other 4 and turned towards the messanger. "see that these are posted, where people will se them" Pressing a few coins into his hand, she walked him to the door, knowing soon the people of myrken would be informed.

Within the next hour, the messanger had posted all five announcements, each one mirroring the others , for their message was all the same and it read.

Miss Jinni Marie Darden cordially invites the people of Myrkentown to visit the new-opened Stitch'n'Time outfitters, on the corner of Ravensridge Road and Haberdashers Row, suppliers of fine bespoke clothing catering to both ladies' and gentlemen's fashions.

Now all Jinni had to do was wait for customers.

Opening

Postby Sherazade » Sun Feb 03, 2008 4:20 am

Today was the first after the announcements had been posted, and she was not really expecting any customers, but she was hoping all the same. Soft satin slippers padded down the stairs, hands having gathered the folds of her skirt in their grip, keeping the hem of her gown from her path, the last thing she wanted today after all, was to take a nasty tumble. Across the shop floor she moved, hands releasing their grip on skirt folds, to grasp drapes instead, drawing them open to let in the light. Woven cord ties, soon confined them, and were attached to brass rings, mounted either side of the windows, for just this purpose.

Hand rose now, grasped scarlet tinted raven braid, and tossed it back over her shoulder, door was then unlocked, and the qaunit and definaely cute open sign was soon hanging in its window. Large colorful letters, formed from neatly wrought stitches forming the word open. Near the O sat a spool of thread, the ame color, its thread drawn out and attached, and off the base of the N, hung a stitched needle.

Hmmm what now, for a moment she stood in stillness, palms resting on her hips, upstairs she could hear her gaurd stirring , but surely she was safe enough during daylight hours. Then again, from what she had heard, who knew with this place. Shoulders shrugged, shifting dove grey velvet, making it seem for a moment as if the emerald leaves stitched around its modest neck, where stirred by a breeze. Broom was gathered up and she began to sweep the floor, humming a bright little ditty to herself as she worked.

There was a darkening in the building's doorway some time after the rumour of its opening.

Tall and hooded Valgar stood in its midst with a sharp, red stare scouring the guts of the structure with inspection. His eyes narrowed as though he perceived a threat -- perhaps the threat of venturing into a lair crowded with the frilly interests of the gentler sex - before his footfalls carried him further inside.

Midday's windowlight pierced the muffling shadows of cloth and made more clear the gaunt hollows of a shrewd, cruelly angular face.

The door swept shut, and he waited for the attention of the Stitch's lady keeper with a cool stillness of black robes and folded gloves.

Miss Darden was seated in her rocking chair, her lap buried beneath folds of strangely shifting monochrome hues, needle expertly sliding between the threads as she worked in a seam, that was barely detectable.

The sound of steps, brought her head up, made needle pause in the act. Dangers fleeting touch rested upon her, only to be shrugged off, He was a client until it was proven otherwise, no matter how nervous he made her feel.

"Welcome how can i help you sir" Greeting and question flowed smoothly from her lips, as her current work was set aside and she rose to her feet.

He was tired... he had ridden hard to Razasan... changed horses where he could, taken only what rest he had needed to carry on... he had been paid well to carry his messages swiftly, now he was returning. Hooves were pounding through the slowly melting snow, a his mount ploughed onward, there was enough time to make myrken, to reach the town , the shop before darkness descended.

The sun was starting to set and tonight, Jinni was planning to close the moment its last rays faded from the sky. Broom swept, threads and fabric scraps into a pile that was being pushed towards a bucket, lying on its side, a flat side with a sloped lip would allow he to swiftly dipose of the waste.
Raven dark hair was captured beneath a kerchief, scarlet tints barely visible amongst the mass, choclate gaze darting about for any ohter signs of industry.

So focused was she on her task, that the messanger was drawing his horse up outside, leaping lightly from his saddle, before, the approach had registered. Turning, her face lit up with expectation, with hope, and brought a warm smile to his lips. offering her two bound scrolls, he caught his breath and then spoke. "Theres more details in both scrolls, but your family is well, and what you asked for is, if the weather held pehaps a week behind me."

Delighted laughter spilled from Jinni's lips and she tossed the man another bag of coins, a much smaller bag, "for your trouble and your swiftness." she waved a hand towards a pitcher of water and a glass, "slake your tirst, my gaurd will lock up when your rested enough to leave."

She did not even wait for his agreement before she was turning away, finding the urge to skip up the stairs hard to resist... these messages she wanted to look over in private.

Delivery Arrives

Postby Sherazade » Tue Mar 04, 2008 5:23 am

The snows were clearing more every day, the world warming as if in defiance of all that currently ailed myrken, even Jinni's mood had turned happily expectant. It had been a week since the mesangers return and she was hoping today was the day. Standing in the middle of the main area, sh ran a critical eye over the shop, ticking things off her internal list as she went. Cobwebs had been chased from the ceilings corners, and shelf edges, fabric bolts had been tidied, floor had been swept and counter and table dusted, heavy drapes tied back. A pleased smile curved her lips, and she stepped through into the tiny hall and then into the storeroom. Here too everything had been cleaned and swept, shelves lined with plain calico to protect what she hoped would soon be resting upon them. Head tilted as she heard her gaurd moving around upstairs... just lately he'd started looking at her strangely and she wasnt sure she liked it.
Snorting she shook her head, Ugh, she was just being silly, he was simply being protective, doing just what she wa paying him for. That dealt with she emerged from the storeroom and entered the kitchen, she really should consider hiring someone to take care of cooking her meals, sooner or later she would be too busy to do such things for herself and it would be best to have someone settled and in place before the need came about. Kettle whistled just as she approached the stove. "perfect" she murmured and carefully poured the hot liquid, over the herbs in her cup, before setting the kettle aside. Tea in hand she stirred the contents making sure the honey melted as she re-entered the shop front.

Clipping hooves, and the steady rumble of turning wheels brought the heavily laden cart closer to Stitch n time, the two men seated upon its box searching for the sign. "there" one said and pointed. A light tap of the reins to horse neck had the cart crosing the street, only to be drawn up outside. Climbing down , the older of the two men spoke. "whip the covers off Sam, i'll go tell Lady Darden we've arrived." There was a quick smile from the younger one "As you wish Papa" and Sam was scrambling to do his fathers bidding, he was excited about this trip, it had been the first time his father had let him drive the team, without giving constant instruction. A nod of his head, and the older man was stepping through the door, gaze falling upon the lady he had come to see. She looks happy, the master will be pleased to knonw that the thought flowed through hi mind and he was clearing his throat.

At the sound jinni turned, and a bright smile lit up her features "Garrett" Oh she knew what his arrival meant, her steps were light as she moved towards him, hands rising to clasp his own, head turning to allow him to kiss her cheek.... Long moments they stood there Talking of home and those they both knew.

Pleasantries exchanged, the shop was soon a hive of activity as father, son, and bodygaurd worked to bring the delivery inside and stack it according to the lady's wishes. As for the lady herself she would be standing near the counter in the shop front drinking her tea and directing traffic, so to speak. Dove grey gown, though simple in design draping her figure in a flattering manner, White pocket apron, cinching it to her slender waist, its pockts where she kept scissors knotted thread and other tools of her trade. Matching white head scarf keeping her raven dark scarlet tinted curls from shadowing youthful features.
