The Perfect Couple

Rhaena rather preferred Ariane being the voice of reason to Kerrak. Kerrak was unreliable, for all that she liked the man. They did not need a repeat of his first demise. That was the problem with channellers.

"Hopefully it will be more productive." The last trip had been a rushed, hurried affair, not a day after a certain birthday party that Rhaena could not, even now, remember very well. Now, things were different. Not that Rhaena would not be returning with all sorts of fabric and gowns and other luxuries, of course. But she would return with more than that. Quietly.

Glenn couldn't help but smile at Rhaena in the midst of this. She reminded him a little of how things were before the incident with Catch, but with that twist that came after. Still, there was one concern. "The old lady. If you see her before you leave, I think extreme measures may be warranted." The old lady who apparently told a story about a mindwitch that conquered a king. Shouldn't that make him paranoid after what he learned with the wolf? Perhaps, but he wasn't. Glenn Burnie was still incapable of such emotion, incapable of true doubt, of that sort of introspection.

He wanted to put all of his faith in Rhaena Olwak. He wanted to share his dream with her, his life, everything he had.

Not for a moment would he doubt her.

Never.
