She watched him with half-lidded eyes as he worked at her wound. A sharp nod was his only indication that she had heard him when he warned her of approaching pain. There was a flicker of discomfort that raced across her features, but no cry pierced the silence. Instead, she drummed her fingers on the opposite thigh, seemingly impatient with his doting.

Each bite of the needle into ragged flesh made her stiffen slightly, but she made no complaints. "I'm afraid I can find no reason to protest your help, then." She waved a dismissive hand. When he finished, she would nod her thanks and leave him to his own devices. There was brooding and plotting to be done.
