Food Reaches Myrken

Food Reaches Myrken

They arrived the morning of the fifth around the dawn--a pair of caravans loaded down, one with fruits, vegetables, and the like, and the other with meats, breads, and a few good-sized hunks of grain. The reason was simple; as the drivers of these godsends informed the guards at the ends of town, they were here at the request of Councilor Treadwell.

That got a good laugh from the guards. Councilor Treadwell, they said, could easily feast on all of this by himself in a few days.

But no, they said. This was from the town of Westenford in Amasynia, Treadwell's former place of residence (and where his wife and daughter still live), and it was here free of charge to be distributed among the working poor of Myrken.

That got another good laugh from the guards. Treadwell was actually giving food to the working poor of Myrken?

But yes, the food was distributed by noon, and, by four in the afternoon, letters were sent to other towns in Amasynia, asking for help in pitching in. The portly, well-known Treadwell was indeed throwing his weight around this time--at least in a political stance.
