Of Old Men and Lemurs

Aloisius Treadwell had a new pet, it seemed: something referred to on its orange collar as a lemur catta, or, in more common parlance, a fluffy little thing that simply loved attention and good fruit. However, would he keep the thing? Perhaps it had an original owner, someone who would be missing it about now. Thus, he ordered put out a few posters in the more important (that is, wealthier) parts of town.

Found: one fluffy, furry, "lemur catta," wearing an orange collar. Apparently a pet. Contact Councilor Treadwell if seeking its return.
Note: If not seeking its return, contact Councilor Treadwell informing him why, among other important information such as the animal's age, diet, habits, et cetera.

Thus, the hook was placed. It awaited a potential bite.

The lemur seemed quite content to be left at home, having been given affection all day by Treadwell and the various domestics around the house. In fact, this set up was probably better than the last one the lemur knew. It got a plush bed, warm blanket and tons of fresh fruit, rather than dried pieces that his previous owner, a rather corpulent and now very dead wizard had given him.

It would purr happily every now and again when someone would come in to give it food or pet it. No one seemed to quite know what to make of the exotic critter, other than it likely was some wizard's concoction or familiar summoned from far beyond the Prime, but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, it was of an animal of this plane that was not too distant in relation to monkeys -- which would lead to some serious problems if its collar were ever removed!

...but until that happened, it would most likely be the ideal pet.
