Blood Donor

The Remedium was, of course, overflowing. People were everywhere, lining the halls, the rooms, even outside under mere netting, to keep the bugs away. It was quite sobering.. but a tall, red-haired elf strode purposefully through it all, with a clear jar under his arm, bearing a bit of blood and two very large bugs.

After a moment of small talk with one of the few staff in the place that wasn't running ragged at that moment, he set the sealed jar up on the counter. At his request, a heavy strip of cloth was provided for him to reseal the vessel, and he stated his belief that the insects were the source of the plague. Of course, the bugs were the talk of the town, but he had sequestered himself doing other things lately.

Whatever the case, though, he also stated his belief that the Remedium could use them to create a cure or other medicine. He was not a healer or medic, but he was enough of a scholar to know that, for example, to create an agent to counteract a snake bite, one needed the snake. Hopefully the same would hold true for the insects.

Oh yes.. and he advised that anybody who tried to handle the bugs use falconer's gloves or other protection. The size of their stingers was, of course, apparent. He even took the time to write all of that down, in simple, elegant common, securing the missive to the jar and leaving it in the care of the experts.

Now he just had to hope that they really *could* come up with something from the specimens.. he had paid a price for their capture.

"Mmm, that's what I was thinking as well," remarked the doctor.

"Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get anything more than a stinger or two to work with, and they don't save much. With this, however, I might be able to learn just what is going on...with luck, it'll be somethings the bugs produce with a cure. If it's a disease they carry..." David shook his head wearily. He offered a nod and his thanks to the elf and whisked the containers away. For the time being, patients would simply have to wait - there wasn't much more he could do for them, anyway - the normal poison rememdies had been thus far ineffective. A cure was definitely needed. David just hoped he could conceive of one in time.
