Attention all Spires-Plot interested.

Attention all Spires-Plot interested.

I feel I owe all of you an apology.

Just when there's really some interest stewing, I've been struck by a slew of IRL obligations coming at me thick and fast.

I've got 60 pages of screenplay still left to finish, 30 of which must be done by this sunday, I've got several large-scale digital artworks to finish for the website of a soon-to-be-published RPG, I've got a possible job on a short film coming up, and to top it all off, the government - haha! - thinks I'm an unemployed loafer, not considering any of the above 'work', and has assigned me to morning 'how to get a job' classes that suck up half my day.

Suffice to say I don't have a lot of time to RP over the next forseeable week or two. I understand that there are a lot of folks champing at the bit to get further and deeper into the Spires storyline, but please bear with me. I'll be with you as soon as I can. I'm really very sorry that it's turned out like this, but all of the things that are happening to me were not forseen. I sure didn't plan it this way.

For now I'll just be outlining a few common things that people have been asking me; Call it a "Spires FAQ" if you like.

1) What happens if my character checks out the Spires?

Anyone who approaches the Spires and does some investigation will find them to be made of some kind of resinous material and bone-like structures. They appear to be both mechanical and biological. The fumes from all three Spires are highly toxic and have killed or corrupted much of the animal and plant life around the Spires' immediate vicinity.

2) Will anything bad happen to my character if he/she goes near the Spires?

Those who investigate the Spires will not be attacked, though they may feel intense sensations of supernatural fear, nausea, or overwhelming hate directed at them. The feeling of being watched is extremely palpable. Some sharp-eyed characters may spot glimpses of movement or flitting shadows from the corners of their eyes. Needless to say, even the staunchest heart will probably not linger longer than is necessary.

3) Are there any kinds of door or opening in the Spire?

There is a small, sphincter-like opening at the base of each Spire, facing away from the tavern. It is large enough for a humanoid to squeeze into, if anyone dares broach the stinking, heaving flaps and gore-caked tunnel beyond.

4) What happens if I go in?

Anyone who DOES want their character to enter the Spires should contact me via memo (IRC memo preferable - send to Kobra) or query first.

5) Are the Spires the source of the corruption of the forest?

Short answer: No, not exactly ...

Long answer: The Spires themselves are not. The spires, like the twisted trees and mutant wildlife, are a symptom of the disease - the things known as the Maelhim .

Finally, a request!

I've been told that there are a lot of people interested in the plot who have NOT directly approached me yet. Which means I don't even know the full extent of the people who want their characters involved.

So please - I need to get an idea of numbers, so that hero-teams can be formed and plans of action made.

If you are interested in the Spire plot - whether you have or haven't contacted me - PLEASE put your name up here, on this thread, and a (very brief) summary of who your char is and what they know about the situation

I know it's probably not the most IC way of doing it, but considering the limits on my time and the amount of people involved the leisurely roleplayed-gathering-for-quest method I'd prefer to do is not an option anymore.

If anyone interested doesn't have access to the boards but hears about this anyway, they can memo Kobra or email arcanos@tpg.com.au

Thank you all for your interest. Hopefully this will all work out.

Yours,

Chris.

Furthermore, I know some people are alot like me in the fact that they won't get involved in things unless they're involved in them ICly.

Probably in the next few days, I'm going to be playing a great deal more of Lamai. Not to give away plot ideas, but she's going to be recruiting. It wouldn't be difficult at all for anyone to connect Lamai to Mephisto. They're often seen at odds, not only in the Dagger, but in other places, and as far back as say.. Rayin's departure for home and Alexander's ball/party, where Mephisto and Lamai shared a rather tense dance.

So please, if you want to join in, and don't feel comfortable just jumping into things OOCly, make an effort to come rp with me. I'll only bite if you ask, and she doesn't bite at all. *grins a lil*

Oh. My characters are interested in the major corruption of the land.

One in particular: Lorreta Entreni (I actually made a tiny post with her on one of your threads a while back)

Problem is..like you, I am strapped for time. I never know when I will be able to jump online (Unless it's in the daytime..) and I don't even know how long that itself would last.

If you would like to do something with me via IRC or the forum that's a bit more private (waiting for other players can sometimes get frustrating and time consuming when you have a wacky schedule like me) I'd be more than willing to jump in and have a good time.

Although..Kate (aisu) would be one person I'd be more than willing to wait for...considering..well, she is a major part of Loretta's plotline.

So, if you're willing to suck in a person who's a little bit shakey when it comes to the internet; that'd be great. If not, I totally understand! It's why I'd kinda been avoiding the plotline anyway! I didn't want to dissapoint anyone.

(I kept trying to think of ways to start this post off, but everything sounded so stupid. So I decided on short and simple):

I want in.

My character that is interested in the spires and the influence they have on Myrken is the ranger Madel. He doesn't really care what they are or where they're from, but he's seen them corrupt his forests (Spires: the influence thread) and he's wants 'em gone.

Same problem as cited before, never really know when I can get online, but if I'm given a heads-up then I can most likely hop on the web and RP.

I've been scarce as of late, partly to Track and Field, and partly with my almost never-ending battle of trying to overcome the fact I simply can't play an unrealistic character in the sense of why: i.e., why s/he's stay in such an awfully cursed place, why s/he'd visit a cursed tavern enough to justify normal play, etc.

But I do have a character in waiting whose purpose could be solely - logically so - devoted to scourging the land of the spires.

Her name is Jane Steele, and she's a religious paladin zealot.

...I even made a nifty picture with that character generator!

I have at least two characters that would be of interest within this SL. Although, I do limit myself to only playing one character within any SL, if I can.

Meth is a Frenzied Berserker, who is always looking for a good battle to fight/die in. He might be dangerous in a group, because he can't tell foe from friend after being hit.

Minotaur tracks.

Postby Kaz » Thu Mar 11, 2004 9:47 pm

*posts here, posts there*
The boy waved a wooden sword at the minotaur he'd tried to 'slay'. "I wanna be a hero!"
Furred arms crossed loosely, the warrior's rumbling voice was mild. "What kind of hero?"
The boy scoffed. "There's only one kind!"
"Oh no," The minotaur replied. "There are a few. Ones that are heroes after they are dead, ones that are called such who do not deserve it, old heroes and young ones, new and tired. Willing and unwilling. Heroes to the masses, heroes to a few, heroes for the bards' songs."

Umm, I want in sorta... I dunno. I kind of want to involve Kish, he has motivation. But not sure how or what would really push him.
