After overwhelming conversation among the Ops team, it has been realized that a rule from our website has been misunderstood for quite a long while. For this, we apologize to the max!

Many of you have been playing in the RP rooms thinking that once you post two paragraphs, you need to wait until another player posts before you can post again -- but that is not true!

On http://www.brokendagger.com , our general rule states:

"If three or more people are playing in the channel, please limit yourself to posting two paragraphs at a time. This is a courtesy to other players, as posts are easily lost if the channel is scrolling rapidly due to multiple posts from a single player."

This means if there are only 2 people IC, don't worry about it. If one more person(s) adds to the mix, by joining the RP, please cut your posts down to 2 paragraphs *at a time*.

We will still be looking out for people blowing past two paragraphs with cut scripts; however, this rule means that you may post two paragraphs, hit the ENTER key, then type two more, then hit the ENTER key to your heart's content. You need not wait for someone else to post something in order to post again. Please consider a "post" to mean that you have clicked the "enter" button.

Those of you who write in word or notepad, then paste, please post two at a time, and give a person time to read them before you paste again.

This has become a very confusing item, and I am sure some of you may still have questions. If you have any further questions of how this works, or why an Op might be talking to you about it, please feel free to come to #BD_Ops or just... add to this here thread. Thank you!

Thanks for the clarification - so if I type faster than everyone else, and crank out three paragraphs before anyone else posts (I've never done this with BD, but it's happened to me before!) I'm not going to get kicked, since I don't copy/paste them simultaneously? Is this the case?

If so, this rule isn't nearly as odd as I thought it.

You've got it, J-man. All we do ask (out of courtesy) is that you give us some time to read it and keep "scroll" to a minimum, cause Ops really do read *everything* going on in the room and it can be hard to keep up, reading, with even a handful of people rping. But yeah.. that's what we mean by it.

Here's a question along the same lines.. What constitutes a "paragraph" exactly? Would it be an actual paragraph-sized chunk of text, as in the maximum you can get in IRC before you spill into the buffer? Or does a paragraph constitute -anything- you hit enter on?

I've gotten nailed a few times on hitting the three mark, but the third is usually no more then sentence length. My cut-script can't handle anything more than two full paragraphs and a dribble sentence in a third posts.

Each of these counts as a paragraph, for the purposes of this rule. What Wendy is saying is that this rule no longer prohibits that third sentence -- or a fourth, or a fifth, so long as you're not actually spamming the channel with 'em. *g*
