Board closing 17 OCT 2026

Tue Oct 06, 2026 4:36 am

Things change. So do we all!

Over the past few years, we've seen stories come and go on the Broken Dagger forums as a number of shifts in how we play have come to pass. A few years ago, our long-time IRC presence lapsed for lack of attendance (it's almost like we got older), and our play shifted to slow-but-well-nurtured stories here on the forums.

Unfortunately, even that must change. As the cost of the site, Wiki, and bulletin boards have become increasingly prohibitive and their use less frequent, we've made the decision to put this part of our history to rest.

As of OCTOBER 17, 2026, brokendagger.com, its Wiki, and this bulletin board, will go offline.

Thanks to Steve, our long-time server administrator, all of the information stored on these resources will be archived and backed up, with the intent to provide them in an archived format somewhere accessible in the near future. What will likely not survive the transition are private messages between board-members, so it is important that you save what feels important to you.

The good news is, we aren't done telling stories.

While the forums will not be operable or available, Lynette and Matthew have put together a Discord server to bridge the technological gap between 2001 and 2026! While the server is still a fledgling, there's been some play happening when people have time available, and all members of the Broken Dagger are invited to join us! We ask that if you join us, bring your interest to see old friends, your desire to make new ones, and infinite patience as we all go from this online home to another.

If you see this before the site closes, please use the following link to join us in our new Discord server:

Please note that the blue bracketed information should be replaced with the actual characters mentioned.

Joining requires a Discord account, which can be accessible from a web-browser application or using the official Discord app.

We are not done telling stories. It's just that how we are telling them will look a little different as we move into the second quarter-century of our existence. For the past 25 years, we've stewarded fantastic adventures, developed long-standing friendships, and come together over great distances for a shared love of tales small and large. We hope that you will join us in continuing to do so.

See you there!
