My doctor suspects that I am developing carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands, and I am currently undergoing tests and suchlike. As I make my living typing at a computer and must do so for the rest of my life if I progress on in my chosen career, this is huge. Also, it's affecting other parts of my life that are very important to me, like playing instruments.

Roleplaying is not completely out of the question, but if I am quieter now and play a little less, it is because I am working on managing the condition so I do not have to have surgery.

I work with computers, myself. Unfortunately, I was stupid enough to ignore the problem for long enough to let it progress. So, at least you're taking the right steps to remedy the issue.

Though, if you do end up needing the surgery, it's a fairly standard procedure these days and it actually does do some good.

You can get wrist braces that did a load of good for me!

Have you tried wrist braces? I picked up one for my right hand and it has done a lot to help.

As silly as it seems...I've had them for over 10 years.

And through that time of rping or working at jobs where I have to do endless typing, I've never had a problem with my wrists or any numbing related to carpal tunnel.

I forgot I have a gel wrist pad for my keyboard and a gel wrist pad for my mouse.

Don't use them at work though, and my wrists don't bother me. But surely they'll help.
