Well, I wanted to be able to go to the Dagger itself and talk to Dulcie and GlennBurnie first, but we've already decided and discussed among ops.

But, here goes:

GlennBurnie is the new Cofounder for the Dagger - and by that I mean he is taking care of business. I rarely have time for BD, but I'm not going to let it go into someone else's hands for an extended period of time again. I realize the room needs nurturing and I know I can do that when I have time for it, but the truth is, I do not. I've been living separately from my husband for a year and a half and being a single mom/making enough money to support us has really pulled me into real life and doing things that help generate our household income.

I'm very fond of BD and I love everybody that plays here. Heck, I even love people that I knew were bad for the room and didn't allow to stay. I know that Matt/Burnie is a good, good, good, good guy and I trust him to be an impartial judge when things come to a head as they sometimes do.

I'm trusting him to keep ops communication flowing on the board and all communication flowing on IRC and the boards. I will still be available for anyone to talk to and ask questions and even RP sometimes, but please note that my scarcity is not due to lack of love for the room or its players. It's because my reality is that life needs me like whoa.

Second, please welcome Dulcie as the new manager of The Broken Dagger. I tried making Edda something of a staple, but failed miserably! She was not someone I really wanted to play and was only doing it to give the room someone more reliable. YEAH THAT WORKED OUT! For that, I'm sincerely sorry. I hope you can accept.

But, among all that nonsense, there has been Dulcie, and she's been incredibly great at involving everyone and being a part of BD and its care as a tavern all along from the time I've known/seen her. She is someone Raegan would be very proud of. Heck, someone Sorn would be very proud of.

The tavern will be returned to the Darkblayde family's ownership in order to maintain history and in honor of the people that put a lot of years and time and effort into that room up to this point - with Dulcie as head person in charge. I know that she will be fair in the hirings and firings and allow any player to contribute to the staff, just as they would.

Lex/Carnath-Emory is no longer opping, but the door is being left open for her return if/when she is able to rejoin the team. She has offered to continue helping with the site stuff, and we're still in discussions (her and I) with that. Thank you for bearing with us since both of us are pretty busy and catching up is tough. It will happen.

But, I HAVE to express my gratitude to her *right now* for having worked so well for our room and the team and everyone for YEARS. Between Lex and Mongrel, I've had an amazing support system for the foundership of the Dagger. They are both so well-balanced, full of finesse, and are very loving people and I'm honored to have worked with them. I love them very, very much.

I am not clear on whether Steve is going to remain an Op. I know that he will continue playing Cinnabar.

There may be positions for new ops to come, but for now... please enjoy working with Ryan, Caitlin, Heather, Matt and Pauly. They are a great bunch of people that have a lot of humor, care and knowledge. Should be cool. :)

And I want to thank all of you who are still among us and are still pulling in great role play and enjoying each other. You are worth whatever transitions we have to go through to keep things running smoothly.

Best,
Wendy

Another teeny slice of news: I'm swamped pretty heavy at work, adjusting to handling more hours than ever before, but I'll do my best to be in the Dagger whenever I can, and I do keep my eyes on these boards. Treadwell and company (read: some old, soon returning faces!) will certainly be making more open contributions as time permits. I encourage all y'all reading this to do the same. We really are a big group of awesomeness. :) Sometimes, though, it's easy to think there's nothing going on, when a lot of it's cerebral, when we're trying to figure up something to say and something to type. But we're all good, yo. The Dagger gaming goes on!

On a similar note I know I've been more scarce than usual lately myself and unfortunately I don't see that changing very soon. I'm sure I'll be able to come around once or twice a week even if it's just for a little bit, but my work is absolutely insane right now and I'm in the middle of planning a wedding.. so whew! Anyhow, I'll be around, but especially available on the message board!

Thank you.

I'm not going to make a "state of the channel" speech or anything like that. Things will more or less continue as they have been. I know we're all pretty stretched for time right now as a community, but the Dagger is here for all of us to play when we have the time, and the respect we have for one another and the brilliant setting that we've developed over the years will continue to be the hallmarks of our channels and our board.

I don't think there's a single person who's been active over the last two years that I haven't gotten to know on an OOC level to some extent and most of you know me pretty well too. As you've probably figured out by now, I'm relatively easy to deal with and I like to think I'm pretty good at keeping the general well-being of the room in mind at all times, within the confines of our rules, of course. I get as much out of the BD as anyone. Obviously, I want it to do well and thrive.

Also, like Wendy, I do want to take a moment to acknowledge Lex' efforts with the board/site, even and especially in the last week or two. Whether or not RL provides her the time to op or play or whatever else, she's absolutely a part of our community and we're lucky to have her as such. Hopefully both she and Wendy will get a bit of a RL breather and have some time to play with us sooner than not.

It's sort of strange to think that I've only been here a little more than two years, because it seems like a lot longer than that. Part of that feeling has to be due to the fact I felt absolutely welcome from the very start. I've said it before, but I do want to thank everyone for that one last time. I hadn't done any sort of organized room role-playing since 1998 or so and to step back into it after almost ten years was far easier and more enjoyable than I imagined it could be. That was because of all of you and the great community we have here.

So, here's to the stories we've created and the ones we will create in the days to come. If anyone has any concerns or questions or suggestions, please feel free to come to me or Wendy or any of the other ops. We're here to help.

Thanks,
Matt
