One day, the grubby urchin simply appeared at the tavern. Skinny and dirty, with short-cropped blonde hair and large blue eyes, the child's gamble paid off, both literally with the dragons Drache and Syn providing the waif with coins and figuratively with Dulcie giving the child a job in the kitchens and a place to sleep. Since then, the urchin - in a cleaner state - has become a fixture around the tavern, constantly trying the patience of the kitchen staff with the child's obsession for turning anything long and pointy into a sword and pretending to be a knight. No longer hungry, the urchin is still willing to provide information in exchange for coins, which has proved fairly lucrative thus far.

If asked, Cat will lie outrageously and claim to be twelve years old. Eight would be a better guess.

'''Niall''' is a young teenager. She looks to be no older than sixteen, and possibly younger. In truth, she herself has no idea. Not the most attractive girl to begin with, her appearance is not enhanced by the scars that track down the left side of her face. Her hair is an odd color - brown, for the most part, but it fades to ivory at its tips.

She is almost always clothed the same way - sturdy trousers over a pair of boots, a linen shirt with a leather vest. Always she wears a scarf knotted around her throat and fingerless gloves upon her hands. Combined, this leaves her face as the only visible skin about the girl. She used to carry a sword, but lately has been seen without it.

Rather sullen and taciturn by nature, the girl lives with the sorceress [[Kyra]]. Her only friend seems to be the squire Elliot.

=== Appearance ===

Jirai is, without a doubt, one of the less-savory types to be found in [[Myrken Wood]]. Though she often hides her face beneath a hooded cloak, one is unlikely to linger long in Myrken without catching sight or hearing about the pale white hair that frames her dark-skinned elven features. At one point, her face had been ruined by scars, twisted in a quite unpleasant manner. However, not long ago, they disappeared without any explanation offered. Not that Jirai is in the habit of offering explanations for anything.

Obscured though her face may often be, what is all too clear is that she is well armed. No less than a short sword, two daggers, and an odd-looking crossbow are usually visible, and those who know her know that there are probably more concealed about her person.

She is known among the seedier side as a fairly reliable source of information on a wide variety of subjects - for a price, of course. There was a bit of a stir when she began openly working for [[Suede Roschen]], former [[Councilor for Agriculture]], as a body guard.

More recently, the slender woman has made her allegiance to [[Faeryl]] clear, and has aided the other [[drow]] in her quest to subjugate Myrken. She now claims to be Faeryl's daughter.

Jirai is also known to be quite mad and all too eager to display the destructive chaos of her crossbow.

Standing just over five and a half feet tall, this minstrel is in her mid-twenties, slender but muscular which aids her in some of her less than savory endeavors. Black hair is often pulled back in an intricate braid, and her eyes are a bright green.

Virelais is the daughter of [[Rondeau Spier]], Councilor of Trade and Commerce - though she rarely admits the relationship in casual conversation. A minstrel of some skill, when she makes one of her rare appearances in the tavern, she will usually be playing one instrument or another. Nimble fingers and a keen wit make her just as useful among some of the seedier elements of [[Myrken Wood]] as to her father and his peers - the woman has the remarkable ability to get along with just about everyone.

=== Currently ===

Virelais has not been seen in Myrken since the disappearance and death of her father.

A slightly overweight man of middling years, Rondeau Spier's once dark hair has largely gone gray and his hairline is certainly receding. The man usually looks somewhat tired these days. He dresses nicely, but not ostentatiously, preferring expensive cloth and cut to flamboyant colors or patterns.

=== Past ===

Spier was born in [[Myrken Wood]], though his parents were originally from Derry. His parents were cobblers, but Rondeau had no wish to follow in their footsteps. Beginning with managing the family shop's sales, the ambitious young man expanded their interests, building himself into a successful merchant who deals in a number of different products.

=== Currently ===

At the last elections, Spier was elected to the [[Judiciary Council]], the position of [[Councilor of Trade and Commerce]]. In truth, he would not have gained the position, had not the true winner of the popular vote become unable to serve. Still, the position is now Spier's, and he does as best he can to manage both his duties as Councilor and his own business. The result is a man frequently exhausted and overworked.

=== Death ===

While travelling on a business venture, Councilor Spier's carriage was set upon by bandits. No further word ever reached [[Myrken Wood]].
