The Macekebins are a large clan of vampires from a faraway land - an island range of expansive atolls. There they have ruled the inter-clan vampiric city of Veraldelauth for over a millenia. Before their time as revered and feared royalty, they were already a proud, though smaller, clan for generations.

Generations, yes. The Macekebins are unlike Myrkenwood's vampires is many ways - the most major of which being that they are capable of breeding as living creatures do, as well as expanding by Embracing - turning a non-vampire into a vampire. However, Embracing is strictly forbidden among Macekebins as other races do not deserve their gift of blood - those that embrace are killed, as are those they embraced. However, rumor has it among non-Macekebins in Veraldelauth that the offspring of a Macekebin and his Embraced exists...
Anyhow, Macekebins breed only with other vampires, usually by pre-arranged marriage with other well-established and respected clans that have vampiric gifts and powers that will enhance the next generation's elf-slaying abilities.

The Macekebins are renown among vampires and elves in many lands for their unique passion - the brutal torture and slaying of elves for sport. The name Macekebin translates into Massacre of Elves in vampiric tongue. Their clan began on a bet between two vampires, two friends, on who could kill the most elves in a fortnight. They each gathered the left ears of each kill, preserved them, and strung them on a metal hoop. The winner not only slew more elves than his ally, but discovered a joy in the art of their pain and grew a disgust and hatred for their societies and culture. Thus he changed his surname to Macekebin and a legacy was born.

The Macekebins come with various features - but the classical Macekebin is of flawless ivory skin, straight black hair drawn forward in a widow's peak, violet eyes in a sculpted face and with nails grown long. They are always well-groomed. The family colors are Black Violet and Gold. They prefer half-plate armor of black with gold detailing with pauldrons (shoulder plates) and chest plate embossed with the Macekebin family emblem. Every piece of armor is runed on the underside against fire and electricity (resistance and reflection). The clothes beneath the armor are typically violet, as is a cape or cloak clasped with their family emblem. A violet sash or belt loops through their hoop(s) of elf ear trophies.
Their weapons vary by taste, but are typically exotic and honed with great skill and flourish. Macekebins are adept spell-casters and typically only engage their physical weaponry when victory is assured and an arrogant display of their power and control over their situation and kill is wanted. Their physical gifts vary as widely as their looks and tastes in weapons - regeneration, strength, speed, and the ability to fly are standard. Transformation, fogging, shadow-walk, earth-sliding, wall-clinging, mind-subversion, weather or animal summoning, etc are among the special traits many of their family possesses.

However, the brutal side of these beasts are not their only side. They are royalty and know how to behave as such - social manipulation, refined tastes in art music and dining, and so on. Every Macekebin knows how to play the violin - an instrument special to them and, now, most Veraldelauth vampires. The best violins are made from discarded, ugly deadwood - useless and despised by any other builder. The old dried-out deadwood is porous - the hollow pores of the wood resonate more brilliantly than the highest quality of freshly hewn wood... and to a Macekebin, this is a fitting analogy of both their race - useless and despised - and family line - old.
A vampire once took note that the royal status of the Macekebins seems to have made them into the very thing they hate - their ways are very like the elves of high status. That vampire is presumed dead.

As previously mentioned, Macekebins differ from standard vampires in more ways than being able to breed. They are also able to walk in daylight. However, during the day, whether in the light or not, their powers are vastly diminished. If you see a Macekebin during the day - make sure you are far from him at night, for he must be an older, stronger member of the family to be confident against attack during the weakness of day.

More details to come. Work in progress.
Known History Of Time In Myrkentown.
Years ago, when the Drow and Requiem Curae vampire clan warred over the human "livestock" of Myrkentown, Benith was better known. A newcomer then, he was strongly welcomed by Magdelaena into the high ranks of her Requiem Curae. To this day, emblazoned on his left, dominant hand is the mark of that clan, irremovable even by his kind's regenerative abilities.
Before his sudden disappearance months after his initial arrival, his initiation into the Requiem Curae and inability to heal his branding clean from his flesh was observed by many night-time tavern-goers to be troublesome to him, from the absent-minded wringing of his fingers over the ridges of the mark to his heavy-minded sighs accompanied by grinding his palm into his pant leg as though to rub it off.

After his disappearance, rumor emerged that his initiation into the clan had been under threat of force - or at least of no other option out. This rumor of reluctance and force was further evidenced by the "murder" of another clan member by Benith, feeding on him to death in a severely taboo, disrespectful, and unforgivable act; the rumor was also justified with eye-witness that Magdelaena had been attracted to Benith, willing to force his hand into their clan until he could be seduced into staying. Of course, no other soul or soulless was permitted to witness the success or failure of plan to seduce. Regardless, after the inter-clan slaying, Benith fled.

There is some known facts to be found on this bizarre lone vampire. The armor he wore clearly bore the emblem of "Macekebin". Macekebin is a joining of two words from one of the most ancient vampiric tongues still spoken, meaning "Massacre of Elves". The Macekebin family is perhaps the oldest clan of unbroken lineage, in fact calling themselves "family" rather than "clan". The Macekebins are notorious among many peoples, namely elves and vampires, for hunting down elves across the world for the sport of rape torture and murder. Each member of the family wears the preserved left ears of their victims pierced on a metal hoop at their belt or a cross-sash atop their armor, proudly. Benith, himself, wore 3 of these hoops - two full with dozens each, and one seeming to be freshly started, sporting a half dozen at best.

Years have passed, and Benith has returned, perhaps hearing that the vampire plague upon the town had died down and the Requiem Curae hardly seen. Now, the lone vampire wears a total 7 hoops - over 200 elven ears... over 200 elven victims of unspeakable horrors, some lasting unimaginable hours, before their passing. And his seventh is just beginning - with a scant half dozen ears...

General Description
Aside from his short time under the care of Magdalaena, Benith is always of an unkempt appearance. Armor unpolished, boots unshined, hair unwashed. Very unbecoming of a vampire, even more so of a Macekebin.
His armor is half-plate with the Macekebin emblem embossed on breastplate and paldron. The clasp of a short cape of dark violet also holds the emblem. The cape serves to hide his collection of elven ears, seven metal hoops piercing just over 200, which are looped through a cross-sash of matching violet over his armor, which is black detailed in gold.
The vamp seems to carry no weapon with him.

Face and hands are all the flesh that show beneath the black armor over violet clothing. Long, bony fingers tipped with untrimmed nails. Face gaunt and drawn, famished-looking with ever-tired eyes of dark violet. Thin, dry lips forming a tight line or hints of a dour, troubled, angstful frown.
Perhaps he is a chronic failure at his family's bloodsport, always haggard with hunger and clearly a disgrace.
Of course, no other soul or soulless was permitted to witness the success or failure of this attempt.

Years have passed, and Benith has returned, perhaps hearing that the vampire plague upon the town had died down. Now, the lone vampire wears a total 7 hoops - over 200 elven ears... over 200 elven victims of unspeakable horrors, some lasting unimaginable hours, before their passing. And his seventh is just beginning - with a scant half dozen ears...
