== Hallmar of the Kraken ==

Hallmar is a young man of about twenty years with a mop of salt-and-pepper curls that never seem to want to co-operate with him. Blue eyes and a swarthy complexion top off this son of reavers and he’s usually found wearing a dark cloak over grey trousers and tunic. He carries a short sword though he’d much rather hit you with his fist or some improvised weapon than actually use the blade.

How did a sea raider find his way into Myrken? Unfortunately for Hallmar he never could learn how to swim so a life raiding coastal towns was not in the cards. Lacking any way to have an honest living he turned to petty crime and in that pursuit met the gypsy [[Sill]]. For some reason she decided that “Craven Ewas more appropriate than “Kraken Eas a surname, and so Cray became the name Sill called him by. Somehow they became friends and constantly played pranks on one another. Those who knew them could easily see these as immature attempts at flirting and most would assume that they truly did have stronger feelings for each other than basic camaraderie. It was in an attempt to catch up again with [[Sill]] that he found himself in Myrken, and though it did offer him many opportunities at work, it wasn’t somewhere he wanted to stay.

After having left for several years Hallmar came back, only to find out that [[Sill]] was sick and wasn’t expecting to live much longer. After this revelation the pair managed to admit their feelings for each other. Hallmar had thought that they would be able to be happy, but then the creature living under the [[Broken Dagger]] killed her. Searching for her at [[Broken Dagger|the Dagger]] he thought he’d found her but then [[Mikhail]] lobbed off most of her head while Hallmar had his arm around her. The one good thing about this action was that it saved Hallmar from being attacked by the creature, but it did leave him emotionally and mentally traumatized. After that event he’s been in a haze, trying to come to grips with his sudden loss.

Suddenly Hallmar has found a goal, and that goal drives him to dig in the cellar of the [[Broken Dagger]]. What he hopes to find he won't say, though the only thing that comes to anyone's mind is the body of his gypsy love. The only problem with that assumption, though, is that he never knew that she was dragged into the earth beneath [[Broken Dagger|the Dagger]] and believes that [[Mikhail]] was the one to have killed her.

Laurie started role playing in the Broken Dagger after some prompting from [[Pauline]] some time in the early '00s. She started out with her ghoul-turned-werewolf character [[Una]] and had much fun making up the tenants of her vampire-worshiping cult that followed the [[Bryan|Glorious Lord of Darkness]]. She has since introduced a few more characters and continues to enjoy the rp when she can find the time.

Laurie can most often be found using the nick Una as that is the one she prefers when idling, and she never uses her name as her nick as a rule (though one never knows when these things can change).

Doom could often be portended by thick, hobnailed boots resounding off the floorboards of the [[Broken Dagger]]. The boots of a former bouncer in service of the inn, as well as [[Gray Lancer]] in service of [[Thessilane]].

Serving under [[Tempestro Starr]] and alongside a slew of other individuals, Ymir was a quiet individual who only spoke when there was something important to say. More often he spoke with action, or his crimson eyes.

Ymir was born in the desert kingdoms far to the south east. The product of an unnatural union of human and dwarf he was bred for a specific purpose, though only few know exactly what.

Arriving at the inn in solitude, Ymir befriended many regular patrons of the tavern. [[Tyreal]] and [[Iome]], [[Tempestro Starr]] and [[Carnath-Emory]], as well as the often troublesome janitor named [[Quincy]]. It was the latter individual who took up the majority of Ymir's time and actions. Acting as a mentor and protector to the young janitor his time was often spent either threatening, or nearly killing the young woman.

The majority of the half-dwarf's life was training, and it was easily apparent to anyone that he was not a social creature, nor interested in adhering to social norms or customs. However, it was during his time at the [[Broken Dagger]] that Ymir met an elf woman named [[Jynoriel]]. They bonded after some initial conflict.

During one particular trip from the wilderness back to the Dagger, they came upon an elven village being raided. Too late to save anyone, they dispatched the raiders and found among the wreckage a sole survivor. A small elven child with curly blonde hair was soon adopted by the two and given the name [[Estela]].

Shortly thereafter Ymir departed voluntarily with agents from his home kingdom who wished him to return. [[Jynoriel]] too disappeared for reasons unknown to the half-dwarf, and the child, [[Estela]], was placed in the care of [[Quincy]].

Since that time rumors have abounded about sightings of a strange crimson eyed creature residing in a hospital in the capital of [[Derry]]. There are, however, other rumours of individuals of incredible stamina and strength, and stoic nature from all corners of the continent.

Where he will end up next is difficult to say...

Larose

The Larose Family

The Larose Family lives south of Lake Mist in Thessilane, near a small farming village known as Bishop Woods. Their farm primarily raises livestock, mostly cows and sheep, but they also have chickens and a few horses.

The family itself is quite large, the parents having had twelve children who are all grown up, some helping to take over the farm, others off to persue their own interests. Notable are the youngest twin brothers, [[Braddock]] and [[Bryce Larose|Bryce]]. They left home at the age of sixteen to adventure and see the world, and decided to settle in Myrken.

Like so many others Janessa was not born to Myrken, though even those who knew her best would be hard pressed to recall exactly where it is that she came from. The topic was something that she spoke very little of, if ever at all. Janessa arrived in Myrken near two years ago, and some time was spent finding her place in the world of monsters, heroes and threatening doom. She once had a romance that some had found shocking, though things changed and that time was perhaps forgotten altogether.

She is a creature of extraordinary grace and politeness. She is rarely short or angry with anyone and seems to maintain a certain level of formality in almost all settings. She is horribly sensitive about her appearance and spends a great deal of time caring for her hair and her clothing, and as a result appears to be at least a few years younger than what she actually is.

About a year after her arrival Janessa found herself working at the Rememdium Edificum for the Doctor. She came with some experience, a little magical, but mostly natural healing methods. She rarely talked about where she learned her skills, just that she had served as a healer in one village at some point in time and that she wanted to learn more. She found that she learned a great deal from the Doctor, however now it would seem her work was more struggle than a learning experience.

With Dr D'Rael returning to his homeland Janessa and [[Bryce Larose|Bryce]] had been left in charge of keeping the Rememdium open and running. A challenge to the young woman who had hardly ever been responsible for anything in her life.

Una Rillford

Una Rillford is a short girl, appearing to be no more than sixteen years of age. She has long, white-blonde hair paired with blue eyes so pale they are nearly colorless. This combined with incredibly fair skin make her rather striking when she wears the dark dresses and scarves that she is accustomed to after years of serving the [[Bryan|Glorious Lord of Darkness]].

Una was a painfully innocent girl when she first came to [[Myrken Wood]] as a missionary for a cult worshiping the [[Bryan|Glorious Lord of Darkness]], one [[Bryan|Bryan Stratton]]. She was assigned a [[werewolf]] guardian who took advantage of her naivety and persuaded her that he was in love with her. After managing to get her to return the affection, he infected her with his disease then abandoned her so he could be with a different woman who had given him twins. In the meantime, poor Una was abandoned by her ‘god Eand was subsequently tormented by [[Bryan]]. What Una had not realized was that the man she’d worshipped as a god was truly nothing more than a megalomaniacal [[vampire]] who had been feeding her his own blood to ensure his control over her and to also preserve her young age—she had been under his sway for over fifty years. After meeting [[Niyles|another werewolf]] Una finally was able to realize that she did not need either her former master or the man who had infected her and she was finally able to break the blood bond that [[Bryan]] had over her.

Outside of this drama Una was fast friends the gypsy woman [[Khalika]] and had an uneasy association with [[Sill]] who was a ward of the older gypsy. She was also fond of the cursed child [[Phlynn]] and has yet to learn of his death.

Recently Una had lost touch with the tentative confidence she’d found (and with it a strong grasp on reality as well) and was at the mercy of the changing moon which drives her beast to the surface and destroys or buries many of the memories she had of her former life. This has changed, though, as she was miraculously healed by the young man [[Bryce Larose]]. He found her near death after a fight with the [[drow]] [[Jirai]]. He was able to not only return her to health but to also cure her of the curse that had been driving her mad.

Braddock

Braddock is the second youngest child of twelve being the elder twin, [[Bryce Larose|Bryce]] being the younger. As can be imagined, they are nearly identical in appearance sporting scruffy blond hair, pale green eyes and a thin, athletic build. He differs from his twin in that he’s trying to grow a beard, though so far he’s only accomplished a spotty attempt that puts fuzz on his cheeks and chin.

Like his brother he wears simple clothing befitting a farmer’s son, but he has aspirations to never have to do menial tasks ever again. So far he hasn’t had any luck with that, but he’s still young! As [[Bryce Larose|Bryce]] has a tendency to want to help people, it was fitting that he has the ability to heal. And as Braddock (usually just called Brad) wanted to only help himself, it was fitting that he’d received the ability to read people’s emotions. He can sense them as a set of sensations, as associations with events or scenes that evoke specific feelings for him, and in this way he’s able to name what emotions most people are feeling, though it may take him some time to figure it out if it’s especially complex or foreign.

Despite all this, or because of it, Brad can be a very easy person to get along with (unless you’re [[Alli]], and then you know how to drive him crazy in under five minutes). He fancies himself a ladies man and manages to find women who won’t slap him for his advances, though it was a learning process and he came away with no small number of bruised eyes and egos before he perfected the talent.

Currently he is living in a small “cottage, Ewhich is simply a glorified shack, that he and [[Bryce Larose|Bryce]] share. He is holding down a job as a stock boy in a shop in town though he lets on to his twin that he’s working as a guard. Soon, though, he might find actual work as a guard since he made a few contacts on a recent trip back to [[Bishop Woods]] in [[Thessilane]] to visit his family.

Curin

Curin is a tall woman topping six feet with a muscular build. Her light brown hair is short so it stays out of her eyes and is always smoothed forward across her scalp. She has rich brown eyes and tends towards tan, brown, and grey clothing, taking especially good care of her boots and the long bastard sword that seems to always be in place in a specially designed scabbard across her back. She has an incredibly distinctive scar that passes from the fleshy part of her left check, through her lips to the middle of her right jaw, the scar making her lips twist grotesquely when she makes any expression aside from a blank face.

Though she presents a face of malice and pettiness to most people she encounters, she has a devious mind that works to arrange situations to her liking, which is usually violent encounters that end in her targets humiliation and pain. And if that fails, she is a creature imbued with chaos, though she is loathe to tell that tale and prefers to keep that aspect of herself hidden so it’s more of a surprise for her opponent if she feels she needs to use them.

Curin was hired into the [[Order of Straka]] briefly until it was discovered that she was brutalizing minor offenders during their apprehension, as well as falsifying information, such as claiming that [[Sill]] had stabbed her with her own Straka-issued dagger when in reality she’d stabbed herself, much to the gypsy’s shock. Her most notable offense was beating a man nearly to death after he stole from her, this man being [[Agnieszka|Agnieszka’s]] father. Una Rillford is a short girl, appearing to be no more than sixteen years of age. She has long, white-blonde hair paired with blue eyes so pale they are nearly colorless. This combined with incredibly fair skin make her rather striking when she wears the dark dresses and scarves that she is accustomed to after years of serving the [[Bryan|Glorious Lord of Darkness]].

Una was a painfully innocent girl when she first came to Myrken Wood as a missionary for a cult worshiping the [[Bryan|Glorious Lord of Darkness]], one [[Bryan|Bryan Stratton]]. She was assigned a werewolf guardian who took advantage of her naivety and persuaded her that he was in love with her. After managing to get her to return the affection, he infected her with his disease then abandoned her so he could be with a different woman who had given him twin sons. In the mean time poor Una was abandoned by her ‘god Eand was subsequently tormented by [[Bryan]]. What Una had not realized was that the man she’d worshipped as a god was truly nothing more than a megalomaniacal vampire who had been feeding her his own blood to ensure his control over her and to also preserve her young age—she had been under his sway for over fifty years. After meeting [[Niyles|another werewolf]] Una finally was able to realize that she did not need either her former master or the man who had infected her and she was finally able to break the blood bond that [[Bryan]] had over her.

Outside of this drama Una was fast friends the gypsy woman [[Khalika]] and had an uneasy association with [[Sill]] who was a ward of the older gypsy. She was also fond of the cursed child [[Phlynn]] and has yet to learn of his death. Currently Una has lost touch with the tentative confidence she’d found (and with it a strong grasp on reality as well) and is now at the mercy of the changing moon which drives her beast to the surface and destroys or buries many of the memories she had of her former life.

Laurie started role playing in the Broken Dagger after some prompting from [[Pauline]] some time in the early '00s. She started out with her ghoul-turned-werewolf character [[Una]] and had much fun making up the tenants of her vampire-worshiping cult that followed the [[Bryan|Glorious Lord of Darkness]]. She has since introduced a few more characters and continues to enjoy the rp when she can find the time.

Hallmar

Hallmar is a young man of about twenty years with a mop of salt-and-pepper curls that never seem to want to co-operate with him. Blue eyes and a swarthy complexion top off this son of reavers and he’s usually found wearing a dark cloak over grey trousers and tunic. He carries a short sword though he’d much rather hit you with his fist or some improvised weapon than actually use the blade.

How did a sea raider find his way into Myrken? Unfortunately for Hallmar he never could learn how to swim so a life raiding coastal towns was not in the cards. Lacking any way to have an honest living he turned to petty crime and in that pursuit met the gypsy [[Sill]]. For some reason she decided that “Craven Ewas more appropriate than “Kraken Eas a surname, and so Cray became the name Sill called him by. Somehow they became friends and constantly played pranks on one another. Those who knew them could easily see these as immature attempts at flirting and most would assume that they truly did have stronger feelings for each other than basic camaraderie. It was in an attempt to catch up again with [[Sill]] that he found himself in Myrken, and though it did offer him many opportunities at work, it wasn’t somewhere he wanted to stay.

After having left for several years Hallmar came back, only to find out that [[Sill]] was sick and wasn’t expecting to live much longer. After this revelation the pair managed to admit their feelings for each other. Hallmar had thought that they would be able to be happy, but then the creature living under the [[Broken Dagger]] killed her. Searching for her at [[Broken Dagger|the Dagger]] he thought he’d found her but then [[Mikhail]] lobbed off most of her head while Hallmar had his arm around her. The one good thing about this action was that it saved Hallmar from being attacked by the creature, but it did leave him emotionally and mentally traumatized. After that event he’s been in a haze, trying to come to grips with his sudden loss.

Braddock

Braddock is the second youngest child of twelve being the elder twin, [[Bryce]] being the younger. As can be imagined, they are nearly identical in appearance sporting scruffy blond hair, pale green eyes and a thin, athletic build. He differs from his twin in that he’s trying to grow a beard, though so far he’s only accomplished a spotty attempt that puts fuzz on his cheeks and chin.

Like his brother he wears simple clothing befitting a farmer’s son, but he has aspirations to never have to do menial tasks ever again. So far he hasn’t had any luck with that, but he’s still young! As [[Bryce]] has a tendency to want to help people, it was fitting that he has the ability to heal. And as Braddock (usually just called Brad) wanted to only help himself, it was fitting that he’d received the ability to read people’s emotions. He can sense them as a set of sensations, as associations with events or scenes that evoke specific feelings for him, and in this way he’s able to name what emotions most people are feeling, though it may take him some time to figure it out if it’s especially complex or foreign.

Despite all this, or because of it, Brad can be a very easy person to get along with (unless you’re [[Alli]], and then you know how to drive him crazy in under five minutes). He fancies himself a ladies man and manages to find women who won’t slap him for his advances, though it was a learning process and he came away with no small number of bruised eyes and egos before he perfected the talent.

Currently he is living in a small “cottage, Ewhich is simply a glorified shack, that he and [[Bryce]] share. He is holding down a job as a stock boy in a shop in town though he lets on to his twin that he’s working as a guard. Soon, though, he might find actual work as a guard since he made a few contacts on a recent trip back to Bishop Woods in Thessilane to visit his family.

The Larose Family lives south of Lake Mist in Thessilane, near a small farming village known as Bishop Woods. Their farm primarily raises livestock, mostly cows and sheep, but they also have chickens and a few horses.

The family itself is quite large, the parents having had twelve children who are all grown up, some helping to take over the farm, others off to persue their own interests. Notable are the youngest twin brothers, [[Braddock]] and [[Bryce]]. They left home at the age of sixteen to adventure and see the world, and decided to settle in Myrken.
