Her actual mass is frequently disguised by voluminous layers of cloth, but tightly laced boots and vambraces reveal that lean limbs likely hide beneath her attire. Likewise, Korressa has hands that are long and slim, with the nails kept short, clean, and unadorned. Hers is an angular face that makes it difficult to gauge her age, and a penchant for dark apparel contrasts sharply with skin that is pale and prone to sunburn. She has hair that is nearly as light in colour as her skin, and it is hard to tell without careful study, but some of the fine hair has gone prematurely silver at the temples. She maintains the long, pin-straight hair with a complex arrangement of braids, secured with silver findings and rings. She frequently pulls the entire mass high off her nape with a leather thong.

Her eyes are a bright blue, ringed with a dark, seemingly purple limbal ring. They are rimmed with pale, almost white eyelashes, and eyebrows that barely show against her skin.

At all times, she wears a hammered silver pendant approximately two inches across. This pendant is a slightly convex circle, pierced at the top with an equally simple bail, and strung on a thick chain. On rare occasions, she carries a glaive with a narrow, curved blade. This is both a practical and ceremonial weapon. When not in use, the blade is covered with a leather sheath, embossed with the head of a raven on one side, and the head of a wolf on the other.

While she is not overtly magical, in dim lighting, she has been mistaken for elven and (more ominously) vampiric, but is neither of these.

Korressa is more comfortable with winter weather, being fond of the snow and the cold. She spends much of her time outdoors, and dons layers of wool and fur to shield against winter's wrath. All of her clothes are in varying states of disrepair and age. The blacks frequently do not match, and any patchwork or mending is readily visible, as Korressa is far from a deft seamstress.

Korressa received the mare from a farmer wishing to make a sacrifice; he believed that the filly had the evil eye, and would ruin his crops were he to raise her to draw a plow. Korressa took the filly in and raised her instead to be a fine mount. As a result, all of the mare's tack has been made in accordance to the priestess's specifications, including a special stirrup that allows her to carry her glaive easily while on horseback.

The horse is of even temperament, and remarkably placid, with a fondness for apples.

Little has been revealed of Korressa's origins, except that she comes from a snowy land to the north, and that her people greatly fear dragons. Where she comes from, she has explained, dragons are the terrible messengers of an important goddess, and have long been tyrants controlling the lives of their subjects.

Korressa has voiced distaste for dragons on more than one occasion as a result.

===The Broken Dagger===
Korressa first entered [[Myrken Wood]] at the beginning of spring in 215 [[Anno Regalis|AR]]. The reason for her arrival is as yet unclear, but is a part of some "search".

Her first night at the [[Broken Dagger (Inn)|Broken Dagger tavern]] was one she would not quickly forget, as she saw a fight break out on the Inn's lawn. At its centre were [[Mekarie]] and [[Catch]]. The confrontation ended when the giant transformed int a unicorn-like beast and fled into the woods with [[Ailova]] on his back. A few night later, she encountered [[Mekarie]] again, this time under assault by [[Serrus Belcaw]]. No other significant incidents have occurred in her time at the tavern.

==The Present==
Korressa left for a short time in the summer to continue her search, riding with her mare Dayva through the surrounding countryside for several weeks without success. Her return to the Dagger saw her greeted by [[Ailova]], [[Derwyn]] and [[Perilat]] in the Inn's stables. She now resides temporarily at the Inn proper.

Due to unsettling nightmares, she has taken to avoiding sleep around the days and nights of the full moon. During these periods, she can be find wandering the area around the tavern, trying to keep busy. Dayva puts up with extra attention and grooming on these days.

==Description==
The Temple of the Quartz-bound Lady, also known as the "Lost Temple", is a circular pavilion of marble at the base of a gully a short walk from the [[Silver Lake]] in [[Myrken Wood]]. The total distance from lake to entry is approximately half a mile. Abandoned for ten years or more, the surrounding gully has begun to reclaim the once beautiful building. The cultivated wisteria has long since taken over the lintels and support columns, and swathes of purple queen has sprung up in the shady corners of the temple walkway.

The structure itself is covered in a thin layer of grim and dust, but is relatively intact. Only a few stones have fallen down, and the wall's mosaics are still intact.

The temple consists of a walkway that spirals inward to the left once one enters. This walkway is punctuated by columns, decorated with masks that face outward. These masks were once painted, but only the barest stain of red paint remains on the lips and eyelids of each mask.

These masks depict seven emotions, all on the same repeating face:

==Description==
Cheerful to a fault, Diona is willing to believe the best of most people and situations. She likes a good chat and will engage most people with happy teasing. She has a high, chirping voice, which (combined with her colouring) earned her the nickname "Sparrow" from one, [[Gerard Marquise]]. Unfortunately, that can-do, people-friendly attitude isn't often what people notice about her at first glance.

Petite and curvaceous, the well-tanned woman sports a pair of fantastic wings. When opened to their full span, they stretch more than double her height, and are patterned in the fashion of an osprey. Similar to the bird who is her family's namesake, her skin bears black streaks from eyes to throat. She has been known to enhance this natural set of markings with kohl around her eyes and eyebrows.

Unfortunately, Diona is something of a klutz when removed from the air. A graceful acrobat when soaring on the winds, she has trouble sticking her landings at night, and has been known to knock expensive vases from tables with her wings. On more than one occasion, she has claimed the appendages have a mind of their own, usually after some form of property damage or another.

==Background==
===Origins===
Diona comes from a long line of recluses. Both of her parents eschewed interaction with the majority of humanity, and even with their own kind but for rare occasions. Their aerie, an elevated hideaway overlooking a small lake in the Silver Mountains, was all Diona knew for many years of her life.

Her parents raised Diona to be a keen fisherwoman and hunter, in line with her osprey's wings. She is a crack shot with both bow and crossbow, but favours the latter for its compact power and ease of carrying. Additionally, she is skilled in net-work and snares, her primary game being various types of birds.

Only when her father passed away in 203 [[Anno_Regalis|AR]] did Diona venture into the world at large, and discover [[Myrken Wood]].

===The Broken Dagger===
In her eagerness to explore, Diona forgot that she would need supplies. She came to the [[Broken Dagger (Inn)|Broken Dagger]] to acquire the things she would need for travel, only after setting off on her journey. In the process, she established a relationship with the tavern staff, and began providing them with game and song birds. Her goal to explore the world never eventuated, but she certainly didn't seem to mind it.

During her time at the inn, she met a man named [[Gerard Marquise]]. Similar to Diona, he sported fine wings. Unfortunately, by the time they met, one of the wings had been amputated, and the remainder of the pair carefully guarded with armour. Over time, the pair formed a close partnership, and came to live together in Diona's aerie.

==The Present==
Diona lives together with Gerry (her affectionate, and annoying, nickname for [[Gerard Marquise]]) in the aerie. Content with a quiet life at home, she only rarely ventures forth in the warmer months of the year.

Korressa rides a blue roan draft mare of undisclosed breed, and considers the horse to be her close companion.

Dayva stands a bit over 17 hands high, with white feathered socks and a blaze that covers the left half of her face. The eye covered by this blaze is a bright blue, while her other eye is ordinary brown.

Korressa received the mare from a farmer wishing to make a sacrifice; he believed that the filly had the evil eye, and would ruin his crops were he to raise her to draw a plow. Korressa took the filly in and raised her instead to be a fine mount. As a result, all of the mare's tack has been made in accordance to the priestess's specifications, including a special stirrup that allows her to carry her glaive easily while on horseback.

The horse is of even temperament, and remarkably placid, with a fondness for apples.

Little has been revealed of Korressa's origins, except that she comes from a snowy land to the north, and that her people greatly fear dragons. Where she comes from, she has explained, dragons are the terrible messengers of her goddess, and have long been tyrants controlling the lives of their subjects.

Korressa has voiced distaste for dragons on more than one occasion as a result.

===The Broken Dagger===
Korressa first entered [[Myrken Wood]] at the beginning of spring in 215 [[Anno Regalis|AR]]. The reason for her arrival is as yet unclear, but is a part of some "search".

Her first night at the [[Broken Dagger (Inn)|Broken Dagger tavern]] was one she would not quickly forget, as she saw a fight break out on the Inn's lawn. At its centre were [[Mekarie]] and [[Catch]]. The confrontation ended when the giant transformed int a unicorn-like beast and fled into the woods with [[Ailova]] on his back. A few night later, she encountered [[Mekarie]] again, this time under assault by [[Serrus Belcaw]]. No other significant incidents have occurred in her time at the tavern.

==The Present==
Korressa left for a short time to continue her search, riding with her mare Dayva through the surrounding countryside for several weeks without success. Her return to the Dagger saw her greeted by [[Ailova]], [[Derwyn]] and [[Perilat]] in the Inn's stables. She now resides temporarily at the Inn proper.

Due to unsettling nightmares, she has taken to avoiding sleep around the days and nights of the full moon. During these periods, she can be find wandering the area around the tavern, trying to keep busy. Dayva puts up with extra attention and grooming on these days.

Before her death, she was a thing of other-worldly beauty, crafted of her own illusions and spells. Her hair fell long, pin straight down her back, and her eyes flashed sparks at her enemies. Contrary to her ominous presence, she dressed only in white, flowing gowns, trimmed with brilliant scarlet ribbons and sashes.

Nothing is known of the woman's origins. Her age and even her sex are still in doubt, due to her ability to manipulate the fabric of perception to suit her whims. The lack of a proper corpse to examine adds to these uncertainties.

The woman appeared from nowhere with her horde of nigh unstoppable horrors, and entered death as a block of quartz. She was struck down by lightning when the [[Plots_01_05|Twin Moons]] burst. The lone witness in her death was [[Donovan]], as the man attempted to convince her to surrender to justice.

For the span of a month, Corbin assaulted [[Myrken_Wood|Myrken]] with a wild array of beasts. At first, she was believed to be a powerful summoner, calling forth unspeakable horrors from the depths of the [[Silver_Lake|Silver Lake]] and [[Myrken_Wood|Myrken Wood]] to lay siege to the brave souls defending the [[Broken_Dagger_(Inn)|Broken Dagger]].

One of her intended victims eventually discovered the truth of her magic and revealed its weaknesses. Her fondest tool for trickery was in the use of kites and marionettes. These seemingly harmless toys, cloaked in illusion, became deadly, almost invincible monsters under her control, but without their strings they could be easily felled.

It was later discovered that she was the last of a number of pawns, sacrificed in a greater scheme, and no grandmaster villain as previously supposed.

Korressa received the mare from a farmer wishing to make a sacrifice; he believed that the filly had the evil eye, and would ruin his crops were he to raise her to draw a plow. Korressa took the filly in and raised her instead to be a fine mount. As a result, all of the mare's tack has been made in accordance to the priestess's specifications, including a special stirrup that allows her to carry her glaive easily while on horseback.

The horse is of even temperament, and remarkably placid, with a fondness for apples.

No scales or feathers adorned her pale gold-cream body, but the leathery flesh had an equally bright shine to it.

At first, she was believed to be a powerful summoner, calling forth unspeakable horrors from the depths of the [[Silver_Lake|Silver Lake]] and [[Myrken_Wood|Myrken Wood]] to lay siege to the brave souls defending the [[Broken_Dagger_(Inn)|Broken Dagger]].

One of her intended victims eventually discovered the truth of her magic and revealed its weaknesses. Her fondest tool for trickery was in the use of kites and marionettes. These seemingly harmless toys, cloaked in illusion, became deadly, almost invincible monsters under her control, but without their strings they could be easily felled.

It was later discovered that she was the last of a number of pawns, sacrificed in a greater scheme, and no grandmaster villain as previously supposed.
