Description
Korressa is tall and thin, with broad hips and shoulders. Her actual mass is frequently disguised by voluminous layers of cloth, but tightly laced boots and vambraces reveal that lean limbs likely hide beneath her attire. Likewise, Korressa has hands that are long and slim, with the nails kept short, clean, and unadorned. Hers is an angular face that makes it difficult to gauge her age, and a penchant for dark apparel contrasts sharply with skin that is pale and prone to sunburn. She has hair that is nearly as light in colour as her skin, and it is hard to tell without careful study, but some of the fine hair has gone prematurely silver at the temples. She maintains the long, pin-straight hair with a complex arrangement of braids, secured with silver findings and rings. She frequently pulls the entire mass high off her nape with a leather thong.

Her eyes are a bright blue, ringed with a dark, seemingly purple limbal ring. They are rimmed with pale, almost white eyelashes, and eyebrows that barely show against her skin.

At all times, she wears a hammered silver pendant approximately two inches across. This pendant is a slightly convex circle, pierced at the top with an equally simple bail, and strung on a thick chain. On rare occasions, she carries a glaive with a narrow, curved blade. This is both a practical and ceremonial weapon. When not in use, the blade is covered with a leather sheath, embossed with the head of a raven on one side, and the head of a wolf on the other.

While she is not overtly magical, in dim lighting, she has been mistaken for elven and (more ominously) vampiric, but is neither of these.

Cold Weather Apparel
Korressa is more comfortable with winter weather, being fond of the snow and the cold. She spends much of her time outdoors, and dons layers of wool and fur to shield against winter's wrath. All of her clothes are in varying states of disrepair and age. The blacks frequently do not match, and any patchwork or mending is readily visible, as Korressa is far from a deft seamstress.

<div class="mw-collapsible mw-collapsed" style="width: 67%;">From the inside-out, these layers include: <div class="mw-collapsible-content">

* Cotton smallclothes and a long-sleeved chemise; woolen socks or hose in colder weather
* A wide-sleeved, black woolen shirt that closes with ties and a short "scarf" that wraps the throat before tucking into its own layers
** This garment has ties at the wrist and is covered with leather vambraces from the back of each hand to the elbow
* Wide-legged, woolen black trousers that tuck into water proofed boots
* Two to three layered wool vests of purple and black that fit close to the body, closed with a broad sash as a "belt". These vests create a V-neck over the blouse and flatten her torso.
* A wide, black leather belt outfitted with four dagger sheaths at the small of her back. Two of the blades are the length of her forearm, the other two are the length of her hand, and are angled to sit comfortably against her body without being readily visible under the many layers of cloth.
* Two layers of long, dark purple; these sleeveless robes that close in front with ties, but hang loose over the body. Each vest has a high slit in back for ease of movement and riding on horseback, a deep V-neck, and arm scythes that nearly reach the waist. These garments each have a deep hood, with one layered inside the other.
* A wide-sleeved black coat, with a similar slit in back to the sleeveless robes, and an equally deep, fur-lined hood.
* Various scarves, furs, and gloves.
</div></div>

Her scarves or robes are typically adorned with two wolf's head brooches, used to clasp layers together at each shoulder against harsh winds.

Warm Weather Apparel
Even in the height of summer, Korressa buries herself under layers of cloth. Unlike the wool of winter, spring and summer give way to linen and cotton. The garments are nearly identical in cut and style, but she wears only one vest, one sleeveless robe that reaches the knees, and a waist-length cloak if it rains.

<div class="mw-collapsible mw-collapsed" style="width: 67%;">From the inside-out, these layers include: <div class="mw-collapsible-content">

* Cotton smallclothes and a sleeveless chemise; light woolen socks.
* A wide-sleeved, black cotton shirt that closes with ties and a short "scarf" that wraps the throat before tucking into its own layers.
** This garment has ties at the wrist and is covered with leather vambraces from the back of each hand to the elbow.
* Wide-legged, woolen black trousers that tuck into water proofed boots.
* One twill vest of purple and black that fits close to the body, closed with a broad sash as a "belt".
* A wide, black leather belt outfitted with four dagger sheaths at the small of her back. Two of the blades are the length of her forearm, the other two are the length of her hand, and are angled to sit comfortably against her body without being readily visible under the many layers of cloth.
* A single, knee-length, sleeveless robe; this sleeveless robe closes in front with ties, but hang loose over the body. It has a high slit in back for ease of movement and riding on horseback, a deep V-neck, and arm scythes that nearly reach the waist. This garment has a deep hood that she often allows to hang down her back.
</div></div>

On warmer days, she has been known to roll up her sleeves and remove her bracers, but never goes fully bare-armed.

Dayva
Korressa rides a blue roan draft mare of undisclosed breed, and considers the horse to be her close companion.

Dayva stands a bit over 17 hands high, with white feathered socks and a blaze that covers the left half of her face. The eye covered by this blaze is a bright blue, while her other eye is ordinary brown.

Korressa received the mare from a farmer wishing to make a sacrifice; he believed that the filly had the evil eye, and would ruin his crops were he to raise her to draw a plow. Korressa took the filly in and raised her instead to be a fine mount. As a result, all of the mare's tack has been made in accordance to the priestess's specifications, including a special stirrup that allows her to carry her glaive easily while on horseback.

The horse is of even temperament, and remarkably placid, with a fondness for apples.

Background
Origins
Little has been revealed of Korressa's origins, except that she comes from a snowy land to the north, and that her people greatly fear dragons. Where she comes from, she has explained, dragons are the terrible messengers of an important goddess, and have long been tyrants controlling the lives of their subjects.

Korressa has voiced distaste for dragons on more than one occasion as a result.

The Broken Dagger
Korressa first entered Myrken Wood at the beginning of spring in 215 AR. The reason for her arrival is as yet unclear, but is a part of some "search".

Her first night at the Broken Dagger tavern was one she would not quickly forget, as she saw a fight break out on the Inn's lawn. At its centre were Mekarie and Catch. The confrontation ended when the giant transformed int a unicorn-like beast and fled into the woods with Ailova on his back. A few night later, she encountered Mekarie again, this time under assault by Serrus Belcaw. No other significant incidents have occurred in her time at the tavern.

The Present
Korressa left for a short time in the summer to continue her search, riding with her mare Dayva through the surrounding countryside for several weeks without success. Her return to the Dagger saw her greeted by Ailova, Derwyn and Perilat in the Inn's stables. She now resides temporarily at the Inn proper.

Due to unsettling nightmares, she has taken to avoiding sleep around the days and nights of the full moon. During these periods, she can be find wandering the area around the tavern, trying to keep busy. Dayva puts up with extra attention and grooming on these days.

Description
The Temple of the Quartz-bound Lady, also known as the "Lost Temple", is a circular pavilion of marble at the base of a gully a short walk from the Silver Lake in Myrken Wood. The total distance from lake to entry is approximately half a mile. Abandoned for ten years or more, the surrounding gully has begun to reclaim the once beautiful building. The cultivated wisteria has long since taken over the lintels and support columns, and swathes of purple queen has sprung up in the shady corners of the temple walkway.

The structure itself is covered in a thin layer of grim and dust, but is relatively intact. Only a few stones have fallen down, and the wall's mosaics are still intact.

The temple consists of a walkway that spirals inward to the left once one enters. This walkway is punctuated by columns, decorated with masks that face outward. These masks were once painted, but only the barest stain of red paint remains on the lips and eyelids of each mask.

These masks depict seven emotions, all on the same repeating face:

<blockquote>
*joy/bliss
*boredom
*sorrow
*shock
*longing
*fear
*rage
</blockquote>

The outermost columns which support the borders of the temple are decorated not with masks, but with overlapping circles. The outer row of columns also has more supports in place than the interior sections, and are more severely grown-over by the surrounding woods.

At the very centre of the pavilion, there is a gilt marble plinth, with a quartz statue depicting a woman. Her face changes between the seven masks of the temple, but her posture is always the same:

<blockquote>
She stretched her right hand to the sky as if to shade her face from the sun. Palm out, fingers spread, it cast a striped shadow across her gleeful, elegant face. A circlet with two flat discs balanced on its edge crowned her brow and bound her stone-wrought hair. Down her back the hair flowed, and mingled with her robes until it was one grand train trailing to the edge of the marble platform.

...

He pointed to her left hand, which hovered before her hip, palm turned inward. There was a wide gap between her gently curved fingers and her flowing gown, which made it seem as if she should be holding something, or someone.
</blockquote>

Unusual traits
Chief among the temple's strange characteristics is the inability of anyone who has visited the temple once to return to the temple afterwards. Many have tried to do so, even going so far as to mark the trail with ribbons and other markers to find their way back.

So far, no one as managed to visit the temple more than once.

Background
Discovery
The temple's true origins are unknown, but the abandoned building was discovered in the summer of 215 AR by three children of the Myrken Wood area. The three siblings stumbled upon the temple one afternoon while playing. Their uncle also explored the ruins, but left when startled by the unsettling atmosphere and the statue's changing face.

When he attempted to return to the temple the next day, he was unable to relocate it.

Since this series of events, the folk of Myrkentown have made the temple the site of dares, pranks, and picnics. Even patrons of the Broken Dagger have begun to venture into the woods to explore.

Visitors
Those who have come to the temple thus far include:

*Fynn, Kaia, and Dom - the three siblings who discovered the temple by accident
*Saro - a local farmer, and uncle to the three children who first found the temple
Description
Cheerful to a fault, Diona is willing to believe the best of most people and situations. She likes a good chat and will engage most people with happy teasing. She has a high, chirping voice, which (combined with her colouring) earned her the nickname "Sparrow" from one, Gerard Marquise. Unfortunately, that can-do, people-friendly attitude isn't often what people notice about her at first glance.

Petite and curvaceous, the well-tanned woman sports a pair of fantastic wings. When opened to their full span, they stretch more than double her height, and are patterned in the fashion of an osprey. Similar to the bird who is her family's namesake, her skin bears black streaks from eyes to throat. She has been known to enhance this natural set of markings with kohl around her eyes and eyebrows.

Unfortunately, Diona is something of a klutz when removed from the air. A graceful acrobat when soaring on the winds, she has trouble sticking her landings at night, and has been known to knock expensive vases from tables with her wings. On more than one occasion, she has claimed the appendages have a mind of their own, usually after some form of property damage or another.

Background
Origins
Diona comes from a long line of recluses. Both of her parents eschewed interaction with the majority of humanity, and even with their own kind but for rare occasions. Their aerie, an elevated hideaway overlooking a small lake in the Silver Mountains, was all Diona knew for many years of her life.

Her parents raised Diona to be a keen fisherwoman and hunter, in line with her osprey's wings. She is a crack shot with both bow and crossbow, but favours the latter for its compact power and ease of carrying. Additionally, she is skilled in net-work and snares, her primary game being various types of birds.

Only when her father passed away in 203 AR did Diona venture into the world at large, and discover Myrken Wood.

The Broken Dagger
In her eagerness to explore, Diona forgot that she would need supplies. She came to the Broken Dagger to acquire the things she would need for travel, only after setting off on her journey. In the process, she established a relationship with the tavern staff, and began providing them with game and song birds. Her goal to explore the world never eventuated, but she certainly didn't seem to mind it.

During her time at the inn, she met a man named Gerard Marquise. Similar to Diona, he sported fine wings. Unfortunately, by the time they met, one of the wings had been amputated, and the remainder of the pair carefully guarded with armour. Over time, the pair formed a close partnership, and came to live together in Diona's aerie.

The Present
Diona lives together with Gerry (her affectionate, and annoying, nickname for Gerard Marquise) in the aerie. Content with a quiet life at home, she only rarely ventures forth in the warmer months of the year.

Where she comes from, she has explained, dragons are the terrible messengers of her goddess, and have long been tyrants controlling the lives of their subjects.

The Present
Korressa left for a short time to continue her search, riding with her mare Dayva through the surrounding countryside for several weeks without success.

Description
Before her death, she was a thing of other-worldly beauty, crafted of her own illusions and spells. Her hair fell long, pin straight down her back, and her eyes flashed sparks at her enemies. When she spoke, her voice modulated to her mood--she could summon bells from her throat with her laughter, or thunder from the skies with her rage.

Contrary to her ominous presence, she dressed only in white, flowing gowns, trimmed with brilliant scarlet ribbons and sashes.

Background
Origins
Nothing is known of the woman's origins. Her age and even her sex are still in doubt, due to her ability to manipulate the fabric of perception to suit her whims. The lack of a proper corpse to examine adds to these uncertainties.

The Broken Dagger
The woman appeared from nowhere with her horde of nigh unstoppable horrors, and entered death as a block of quartz. She was struck down by lightning when the Twin Moons burst. The lone witness in her death was Donovan, as the man attempted to convince her to surrender to justice.

For the span of a month, Corbin assaulted Myrken with a wild array of beasts. At first, she was believed to be a powerful summoner, calling forth unspeakable horrors from the depths of the Silver Lake and Myrken Wood to lay siege to the brave souls defending the Broken Dagger.

One of her intended victims eventually discovered the truth of her magic and revealed its weaknesses. Her fondest tool for trickery was in the use of kites and marionettes. These seemingly harmless toys, cloaked in illusion, became deadly, almost invincible monsters under her control, but without their strings they could be easily felled.

It was later discovered that she was the last of a number of pawns, sacrificed in a greater scheme, and no grandmaster villain as previously supposed.

The Present

While she is not overtly magical, in dim lighting, she has been mistaken for elven and (more ominously) vampiric, and is neither of these.

Where she comes from, she has explained, dragons are the terrible messengers of her goddess, and have long been tyrants controlling the lives of their subjects.

The Present
Korressa left for a short time to continue her search, riding with her mare Dayva through the surrounding countryside for several weeks without success. Her return to the Dagger saw her greeted by Ailova, Derwyn and Perilat in the Inn's stables. She now resides temporarily at the Inn proper.

In a world where evil Things always appear when you least want them to, Trilby found a home. The creature, for she was certainly no normal woman, had a knack for ill-timed and unwanted arrivals. The Broken Dagger twice felt the weight of her dragon-self crouched on its roof, and the porch and internal workings often witnessed her violent games.

Description
Humanoid Appearance
Trilby was always quite easy to find her if you knew for what you were looking; the woman had a distinct appearance, being slender to the point of painful, as redheaded as a matchstick, and covered in a variety of tattoos on her back, hips, face, and legs. Of these, the one she took the most pride in was a slashed star, filled in black, between her shoulder blades. The others were scattered over her skin in haphazard fashion, frequently altered when new scars formed.

Two pairs of matching scars stretched amid her tattoos from the top of her shoulders to just below the shoulder blades, and from her waist to very nearly equal with her tailbone on either side of her spine. Another, far more wicked-looking scar drew a line from her chin to her collarbone on the right side.

Trilby’s eyes were both blue at some point in time, though the left (tattooed with dripping lines down her cheek) was ruined. The once brilliant blue iris was rendered a mishmash of white and blue, the pupil a lopsided hole that opened to useless, damaged nerves. This injury occured at the hands of Elil.

Despite her reckless appearance, Trilby's speaking voice suited her name. Musical in tone, and carefully controlled, she enjoyed sing-song banter with her would-be victims.

Shifted Appearance
As a dragon, Trilby was far more impressive than as a woman, and far more frightening. Slender, with jutting ribs and hips, she sported two pairs of wings that lined up with the scars on her back. The first pair sat high on her back near her shoulder blades and were considerably smaller than the lower pair. The smaller pair were used for steering instead of actual lift. Unlike a traditional dragon, drake or wyrm, Trilby's wings were feathered and structurally very similar to a bird's. The feathers themselves were copper-red along the joints and a dark gold along the trailing edges. The feathers themselves had a bright, hard sheen. No scales or feathers adorned her pale gold-cream body, but the leathery flesh had an equally bright shine to it.

Trilby’s ears when shifted had several spiralled horns protruding from the edges, so that they could stretch and collapse against the wind when in flight. The right side had one of its spirals broken off at the tip.

Behind her ears, along her jaw, and running from her forehead to her tail, was a stiff mane of coarse, thick red hair. It acted as a very crude sort of armor, but did little to keep Mikhail from removing the end of her tail.

Background
Origins
Little was known of the woman's true origins, but Trilby once claimed to be a self-liberated slave. The girl she pursued upon her initial arrival in the region, she claimed to be the daughter of her former owner. Whether either claim was true is still unknown.

The Broken Dagger
Trilby arrived in Myrken Wood claming that she was looking for a small child with dark curls on a rather strange little pony, with a nastily sharpened tongue. Ariane Carnath-Emory and a grouping of cavalrymen managed to drive the dragon away when she shifted, wounding her in the process, and saving the child. After that event, the woman apparently held a grudge and pursued Ariane on multiple occasions. In one such meeting, Ariane was aided by Kerrak al'Nerun, another by Eriks DeMord Sleipner and finally another by Mikhail and Elil.

In the altercation involving Mikhail and Elil, Trilby destroyed the stairs and a good portion of the tavern's porch with her transformation. She suffered several injuries, however, including the destruction of her left eye by Elil. A portion of her tail was cut off by Mikhail. It eventually partially regenerated, but forever lacked the tuft of fur at its tip common to her particular breed.

In later encounters, Trilby faced Ariane alone and was the victor, inflicting several broken bones in exchange for a damaged wing and bleeding tongue. After this small battle, Trilby took to picking on the former student of Ariane's, Agnieszka Kaczmarek, hoping to antagonise the pair into further confrontations. She attacked the girl after an argument with Braddock and Bryce Larose. She stole from the girl blood, beads and a blade, and left her wandering Myrken with bruises, broken bones, and a battered ego.

For some time, Trilby was content to wander the woods and town in stolen clothes, flaunting Agnieszka's father's prayer beads and her dulled, dirty blade. Her goal was to face down Ariane, once and for all but her plans seem to have been forever thwarted by others.

It seems that the sword belonging to her past victim of torture came to an untimely demise. Trilby was seen with it before Agnieszka reclaimed the broken tip, and only the broken tip. The rest of the weapon remains lost, perhaps in Trilby’s grasp still.

The interactions with Ariane eventually took an unusual turn; Trilby was spotted drinking with her usual enemy and conversing life, death and other topics that most would not consider the demented woman capable of grasping. She at one point sported a lovely cut across her left palm from Agnieszka Kaczmarek's sword after a small disagreement within the tavern commons. It was disrupted by Elil and no serious injuries were sustained by any parties involved.

The Present
Trilby vanished into the wilds of Myrken Wood in 206 AR, and has not been seen since.

While she is not overtly magical, in dim lighting, she has been mistaken for elven and (more ominously) vampiric, and is neither of these.

Where she comes from, she has explained, dragons are the terrible messengers of her goddess, and have long been tyrants controlling the lives of their subjects.

The Present
Korressa left for a short time to continue her search, riding with her mare Dayva through the surrounding countryside for several weeks without success. Her return to the Dagger saw her greeted by Ailova, Derwyn and Perilat in the Inn's stables. She now resides temporarily at the Inn proper.
Even in the height of summer, Korressa buries herself under layers of cloth. Unlike the wool of winter, spring and summer give way to linen and cotton.

As a result, all of the mare's tack have been made in accordance to the priestess's specifications, including a special stirrup that allows her to carry her glaive easily while on horseback.

The horse is of even temperament, and remarkably placid, with a fondness for apples.

Background
Origins
Little has been revealed of Korressa's origins, except that she comes from a snowy land to the north, and that her people greatly fear dragons. Where she comes from, she has explained, dragons are the terrible messengers of her goddess, and have long been tyrants controlling the lives of their subjects.

The Present
Korressa left for a short time to continue her search, riding with her mare Dayva through the surrounding countryside for several weeks without success. Her return to the Dagger saw her greeted by Ailova, Derwyn and Perilat in the Inn's stables. She now resides temporarily at the Inn proper.

They are rimmed with pale, almost white eyelashes, and eyebrows the barely show against her skin.

While she is not overtly magical, in dim lighting, she has been mistaken for elven and (more ominously) vampiric, and is neither of these.

Hers is an angular face that is that makes it difficult to gauge her age, and a penchant for dark apparel contrasts sharply with skin that is pale and prone to sunburn.

They are rimmed with pale, almost white eyelashes, and eyebrows the barely show against her skin.

While she is not overtly magical, in dim lighting, she has been mistaken for elven and (more ominously) vampiric, and is neither of these.

The Present
Korressa left for a short time to continue her search, riding with her mare Dayva through the surrounding countryside for several weeks without success. Her return to the Dagger saw her greeted by Ailova, Derwyn and Perilat in the Inn's stables. She now resides temporarily at the Inn proper.

The Present
Korressa left for a short time to continue her search, riding with her mare Dayva through the surrounding countryside for several weeks without success. Her return to the Dagger saw her greeted by Ailova, Derwyn and Perilat in the Inn's stables. She now resides temporarily at the Inn proper.

A penchant for dark apparel contrasts sharply with skin that is pale and prone to sunburn. with an angular face that is that makes it difficult to gauge her age. Her hair that is nearly as light in colour as her skin. It is hard to tell without careful study, but some of the fine hair has gone prematurely silver at the temples. She maintains the long, pin-straight blonde hair with a complex arrangement of braids, secured with silver findings and rings.

Her eyes are a bright blue, ringed with a dark, seemingly purple limbal ring. They are rimmed with pale, almost white eyelashes, and eyebrows the barely show against her skin.

While she is not overtly magical, in dim lighting, she has been mistaken for elven and (more ominously) vampiric, and is neither of these.
