The twisted mind behind Mongo, aka Steve, aka El Stevo, aka Lemmingness, aka Hey You, is currently suffering in exile in Canada's Capital Swamp, pursuing a Masters in Chemistry at the University of Ottawa, and is this -->| |<-- close to submitting his thesis. For those that care, it involves the photogeneration of silver nanoparticles in magnetic fields.

Steve's actually from British Columbia (which is nowhere near French Columbia), and misses his mountains and semi-desert and merely cold (as opposed to stupidly eyeball-freezing cold) winters .

Steve's first exposure to this whole swords and sorcery schtick was playing Hero Quest at a friend's house in Grade 7 way back in 1993. This progressed to AD&D at a different friend's house in Grade 10 (1995 or so) and online roleplaying on dalNet in Grade 11ish (1997). Steve discovered FFRP in The Laughing Dragon, and soon moved on to The Silver Blade Tavern, and created the immortal, endearing, incredibly sexy Mongo. So memorable was Mongo that when Steve showed up out of the mists of cyberspace years later in a different channel on a different network, people still remembered ol' Mongo. (Fun fact: Mongo was created completely by accident 'cause a notice from one of the network services showed up in the wrong window).

Where was I? Oh yeah...during his TSBT tenure, Steve was made an Op by Founder fiat (historians are still puzzling over exactly what happened), then migrated to Darkshade Hall after some unpleasantness involved coups and channel registration and some things he didn't really understand at the time. Apathy kicked in, combined with Steve moving away from home for eight months to work Coop and leaving the computer behind. Serendipity, however, struck fairly recently in a comment thread on someone else's LiveJournal, and Steve was persuaded to rejoin the insanity *waves at Channe*. Steve would also like to make clear that he only reads LJs of people he knows in hopes of seeing his name mentioned.

Steve currently has no active permanent characters other than Mongo (who doesn't really count), but Goethite and Lemmus (long stories, don't ask) and Belladonna Shadestrike Starwater (even longer story, really don't ask) have all been seen around the tavern. Hopefully they'll grow beyond one-joke caricatures.

All right, show's over, move along.

Mongo is a relative newcomer to the Dagger, hailing from another place and time. His occupation can best be described as Bartender-Squatter. He currently has no official standing or notice of employment in the Dagger, yet can often be found behind the bar, serving drinks and meals of dubious accuracy.

Despite his being seen by everyone who orders a drink, there is no reliable description of the man - indeed, most people aren't sure if he's a man at all. Everyone seems to take away his or her own impression. The only details in which all stories agree are that Mongo is rather large, and rather stupid. It's clear that Mongo cannot be described, only experienced.

Mongo has seen it all - dragon attacks, rampaging demons, hordes of magically animated shoes (don't ask), and so on and so forth. He's come through it all with perfect equanimity. In the midst of the most furious tavern brawl, Mongo can be seen calmly polishing the bartop and dodging the odd errant missile. Nothing penetrates his stoic calm, although some would attribute that to his lack of intellect - he hasn't the wit to realise he should be worried.

Ordering from Mongo is an adventure in and of itself. Mongo always delivers, although what you receive is seldom what you ordered.
Mongo's menu is known to include the following items, subject to availability. Prices are generally negotiable, in that Mongo has no idea how to express the values in these new-fangled shillings.
Bloodwyne (only available during rat infestations)
Wai-en (bright pink, served in goblet with kittyears)
