Dr. Orin Barrin is a scrawny, almost equally elderly half-brother to [[Richard Aengus]] of [[New Hibera]], the two having had the same father, [[Richard Scott Aengus]].  Orin happens to be his half-brother's personal physician, as well, and the only fairy (outside of the Wiggits, Richard's tailors) who dares to take a cynical, grating, straightforward approach with the king about everything from his weight to his amateurish poetry.
