By contrast to her former attire as Richard, Marian must wear much more serious, somber attire as dictated by strict caste laws within both Hiberan regions.  Although the society is highly matriarchal, with mothers receiving the utmost respect, women, especially mothers, have highly regimented rules they must follow regarding their dress and habitsThus, she wears a wimple with formal dresses in red, purple, or pink, occasionally with the midsections open to reveal the intense, permanently brilliant stain known as "Mother's Light" that Hiberan fairy mothers experience as their infants begin to glow for the first time within the womb.

On beginning this new phase of life, Marian realized that she would require a King, as a Queen Mother raising four children would not be able to turn proper energies to the kingdom and to the infants, especially since Hiberan children age much more slowly than their human counterparts, with fairies growing the equivalent of one human year for every five they take to do so.  Marian thus began a brief courtship with Oswald Grimley of Old Hibera, falling for him much harder than one might expect.  Even with the truth of her past identity coming to light, the two were married happily on February 8, 214 AR.  As Hiberan law dictates, the wife can force the husband to take her name instead of the other way around; in order to inherit the much more famous, accepted name of "Aengus," Oswald agreed to do so.

Description

Being the same person, Marian Aengus holds the same physical attributes as the fairy king Richard Aengus. She has the same corpulent frame and the same pink tint to herself. While believing himself to be Marian, the King believed that his fluffy, pink beard had been shaven and lost, despite physical evidence to the contrary, thinking he had instead regrown a head of soft, pink hair with the help of various ointments and minor magic.

Were Marian a real, female fairy queen, she would have been bound by strict caste laws within both Hiberan regions regarding her dress and actions. She would have been made to wear a wimple with formal dresses in red, purple, or pink, occasionally with the midsections open to reveal the intense, permanently brilliant stain known as "Mother's Light" that Hiberan fairy mothers experience as their infants begin to glow for the first time within the womb. However, the truth is that she was really an addled, male fairy; being kept in a cell until his recovery, except for brief walks around the palace to try to jog his thoughts in the proper direction, Richard Aengus usually wore merely a feminine nightgown at all times from the revelation of his illness to the beginning of his recovery.

When thinking as Marian, the King put aside most of his former mischievous, playful side, becoming a much more sober, rational fairy due to being consumed by and concerned with her new role as the mother of her quartet of babies, which were really merely overstuffed, baby-sized sacks of fluff.

Background

Origins

Marian Aengus was the result of fairy king Richard Aengus being a host to a symbiotic Hiberan Rock Rodent for ten months. The relationship between rodent and fairy was exceptionally poisonous with long lasting consequences; the King firmly believed himself, for eighteen months, to be transformed into a woman who was divinely granted four fairy children by Marta, the mother goddess. The name "Marian Ora Aengus" was chosen as a means of honoring simultaneously Richard's mother, Marian, and half-brother, Orin. As for the four children, this number would have been an impossible first for any Hiberan fairy mother, as Hiberan fairies only carry one or two children at a time.

As Marian, Richard believed himself wed to Oswald Grimley of Old Hibera after a brief, whirlwind courtship, thus uniting the divided kingdoms of New Hibera and Old Hibera on February 8, 214 AR. This, of course, was a falsehood; no such ceremony took place on this date or any other.

On 20 April, 215 AR, after seemingly endless devotion by Dr. Orin Barrin, Richard Aengus finally reached the first true turning point, reaching clarity and beginning his journey back to proper sanity with tearful admissions of his true identity.

The Broken Dagger

"Marian," being locked in a cell for much of her would-be existence, never had the opportunity to venture to this dangerous "bigling" establishment.

The Present

After a period of eighteen months, the fairy king has begun returning to sanity, putting aside his thoughts of Marian Aengus and beginning to throw himself back into his favorite pastimes in an effort to rediscover himself.

Plots

With the King's easing away from illness and his brother's ongoing support, the Queen Mother will no longer be an active character of any sort in the ongoing game.
