A Brief Overview of the Childhood of Ignas Demonsbane

Though he was of noble birth, Ignas did not have a happy childhood. He was a shameful mistake, and his mother made sure that he was aware of that at every opportunity. He was not only a mistake, but he and his twin sister were destined to burn in a very real hell where they would be raped and abused by monsters and would wish for death to come but it wouldn't. This really didn't stop her from indoctrinating both twins in the family business, which was, ironically, demonslaying. Camille, the younger of the twins demonstrated a definite weakness of stomach and was promptly forgotten. However, young Ignas was a natural killer, taking quite easily to smothering baby demons and half-demons much like himself at the tender age of five. Eight years, a stepfather, and six half-siblings later saw Ignas rapidly reaching puberty(late for his kind, actually). This involved a lot of blonde hair turning rainbow colors, and going berserk. His mother did what any good parent would do. She attempted to slit his throat while he slept. For one reason or another, Ignas survived. His mother wasn't so fortunate as to avoid being torn limb from limb, screaming and alerting the whole household to what had happened. Ignas, being only half a fool at the time, did what anyone would do. He fled.

The Teenage Years

For the next four years, Ignas did a lot of running as far as he could, while his siblings went after him for revenge. It wasn't hard to track an out of control half-incubus teenager who had a tendency to shred the women he'd been with into small, bloody ribbons. Time and time again, he proved that he had the skill, and will to survive, no matter what. One by one, each of his half-siblings found death when they found him. Camille, on the other hand, who had gotten wrapped up in the whole revenge plot, had only gotten away with a severe beating(among other things), and was summarily sold off to slavers. It was at about this time that Ignas ran into a young woman named Angela. Poor, homeless, and quiet, she was everything that Ignas wasn't used to seeing. He was instantly smitten with her, and they were married within two days of knowing each other.

A Troubled Marriage

Ignas and Angela's marriage was doomed from its inception. Both were unable to control their urges to wander to other partners, and neither could control their jealousy as well. These problems might have eventually worked themselves out, if it wasn't for the fact that Ignas was still violent. For the next several years, their marriage became a violent, shaky thing. Still, Angela gave him triplets in their second year of marriage, two boys and a girl. And in their third, another girl. About a month after that, she left him.

The Past Fifteen Years

When Angela left, Ignas turned to religion. A small obsession of Angela's that had rubbed off on him. He hunted down demons and collected bounties, and amassed a small fortune, with which he would support his family. And despite his darker side, he found that he was a good enough father, if a bit unorthodox at times, and managed to hide his bestial mannerisms from them. Jecht, Adrian, Amanda, and Corazon were taught how to defend themselves, They were given books and lessons, and taught how to make a living in the world. This is the reason why Ignas hardly spends any time at home. He knows his children need to be independent, and on their own to flourish, and he knows that if he were around them, he'd try to run their lives, which he's come close to before.

Myrken Wood

For the past year or so now, Ignas has been frequenting the mud-hole, as he'd put it, known as Myrken Wood. There's a good number of demons to kill, plenty of people willing to trade items with him, and it is a source of food for him that hasn't completely grown wary of the fact that he's a psychotic brute. Times have been good, aside from the occasional stressful month, or nervous breakdown, or psychotic episode. Those are the norm, after all.
