The Myrken Wood post of Councilor of Administrative Sanctions is currently held by Aloisius Treadwell. The duties of the post are somewhat numerous, with the following details building from information talked about or alluded to In Character at various times.
1: The chief duty of the Councilor, although one that only needs to be addressed on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, is to work with the Councilor of Trade and Commerce to help estimate any necessary monetary budgeting concerns for Myrken Wood and to help attain the money for such.
2: The usual concern of the Councilor of Administrative Sanctions is tax collection; for this reason, he is often best known among the people as a glorified tax collector. He is to oversee the collection of property taxes at a fair and reasonable rate from the people of Myrken Wood, whether he travels about to collect it himself or whether he sends others to do the same. "Fair and reasonable" is somewhat adjustable given the demands of the times, although major changes in procedure--such as increasing taxes by a great amount, as in one situation where Treadwell doubled them for a month--should be made only with proper Council approval. As an extension of the Councilor's handling of property taxes, any matters of renting property or purchasing property--whether of land specifically designated for the Council's use or of private estates--must be overseen and notarized by the Councilor of Administrative Sanctions, for ease of appropriate tax collection at the time of rent or sale.
3: The Councilor's duties extend in a basic form to the marketplace. Vendors are to be taxed accordingly for their goods that they have for sale, with more exotic items requiring higher fees. The Councilor is also to work hand in hand with the Councilor of Trade and Commerce to help oversee fair prices being presented in the marketplace to the people of Myrken Wood. Vendors may be fined accordingly for offenses ranging from price gouging to selling goods at unfair, cut-throat prices. Vendors may also be fined accordingly if the unfair establishment of a monopoly of common and necessary goods emerges. Any fines for any of these offenses are to be determined jointly by the two Councilors, with a vote put forth to the Council for approval.
4: Finally, the Councilor of Administrative Sanctions is to keep detailed, clear, and appropriate records of all of the above transactions, internal or external, as situations dictate. If these records are ever lost or damaged, he is to work with all available haste and resources to reconstruct them properly to the best of his ability.
