The Red Caps are a cluster of islands located in the Sea of Amasynia, off the west coast of Northern New Dauntless. They function as an alternative port option to ships hailing from the East.

History

While most merchant and military vessels visiting the Amasynian Province use the major ports of Ricathair in the west or Orvere in the east, some ships passing around the cape of Northern New Dauntless and on to the Hexal Isles anchor at the Red Caps for supplies and repairs. Extant ports on the Red Caps are not officially sanctioned or recognized by the Amasynian government, an oversight which has encouraged a succession of enterprising pirate captains to use the Caps as their home port.

While most island-born inhabitants subsist on fishing, the Red Caps' most significant settlement, Scuffcove, is a seedy freeport whose traders deal in all manner of illicit goods, from plundered cargo and contraband relics to indentured slaves and worse. Smugglers and traffickers from the Red Caps are known to regularly sail as far afield as Caldonia and distant Jernoah.
