In Amasynia
Robert came to Myrken Wood from Derry with Thomas Daniels when they were just youths, after the murder of Thomas' parents. They lived on their own, just old enough to survive - when the chance came to join up with the Order of Straka, the two boys jumped at the chance and would remain among the guard ranks for some twenty years.
Robert and Thomas were paired up by request and worked their way from the ground up, doing everything from horribly boring Meetinghouse guard duty to the more scenic patrols - not necessarily in that order. They experienced much - battles with monsters outside the Broken Dagger with Elil and Victory, the same tavern full of hosility as they extracted the boy Phlynn through a window (their only means of escape due to said hosility).
