Origins of the Dark Ones
The drow of Myrkenwood are not native citizens. While the ancient, ancestral origins of the drow and how they differ from those of other elven breeds is quite unknown, certain historians (most either dead or insane by now) have speculated and noted their immigration from the Sakasoon Mountains of the neighboring region, Derry. Upon further research, the Derry travelers, researchers, historians, locals, and founders could only speculate as to where the drow had come from before then. For a long time there had been no sentient races in Derry, and after a substantial amount of time (near a few centuries), they suddenly appeared, "as if they had sprung right out of the ground", noted one Derry founder.
Until this day few journeys have been made into their territories, and even fewer had successfully come back...
In The Blood of the Drow
Dark Pagan rituals, speak of drow spider gods, and the sacrificial slaughter of many an innocent have been the trademark of any encounter that has been had with the savage race of black elves. Their recent push in through the Sakasoon Mountains of Derry, and even into the outskirts of Myrkenwood, has been speculated by many to be a foraging effort for sacrifices, food, and land.
Others let loose rumor that there are persons living within the Myrkenwood City Proper that hold relics of great significance that the drow are seeking to regain. Marks left by the dark elves in blood and rent flesh, shattered plate, splintered wood. All these speak of an untold horror that will befall all who stand in their way.
Their motivations are currently their own, their methods and thoughts are soon to follow suit. Whatever they have planned can mean only ill will for the citizens of Myrkenwood.
