While the ancient, ancestral origins of the drow and how they differ from those of other elven breeds is quite unknown, certain historians (most either dead or insane by now) have speculated and noted their immigration from the Sakasoon Mountains of the neighboring region, Derry. Upon further research, the Derry travelers, researchers, historians, locals, and founders could only speculate as to where the drow had come from before then. For a long time there had been no sentient races in Derry, and after a substantial amount of time (near a few centuries), they suddenly appeared, "as if they had sprung right out of the ground", noted one Derry founder.
