First Impressions
At around twenty summers of age, Cinnabar Calomel is lean and wiry of build and stands maybe 5'9" in height. His fine-boned features hint at some elven heritage, an impression reinforced by slightly pointed ears and eyes of pale grey. His hair is silvery white despite his apparent youth, and worn cropped short into unruly tufts.
He dresses in clothes of fine quality but practical cut, usually favouring a loose linen shirt, a doublet and britches of soft leather, and comfortable knee-length boots. The skillful tailoring of his clothes and the surpassing quality of the matched rapier and dagger at his belt indicate a man who not only appreciates excellent craftsmanship but can also afford it, though he steers clear of the gaudy ostentation and vulgar showiness often displayed by nobles and dandies. A slight accent reveals him to be a Derryman, and indeed if asked he claims to hail from the small town of Clearwater in the mountains of Derry.
Previously
Calomel first appeared in Myrken Wood late in AR 206, an amiable young gentleman of independent means who took up the role of apprentice swordsman under the tutelage of Tempestro Deost. In April of AR 207 he approached Governor Coriolanus Helstone to place his skills at the service of the people of Myrken Wood, and was subsequently given sanction to establish a civil body tasked with maintaining law and order within Myrkentown. This led to the foundation of the Myrkentown Constabulary, with Calomel in command as High Constable.
The Constabulary's first major challenge came at the Battle of Haberdasher's Row, in which the Brotherhood of Janeiro led a crowd of disenfranchised citizens to the Interim Meetinghouse with the intent of unseating Governor Helstone. Following a clash between Brotherhood and Constabulary forces in which a half-dozen Constables were slain and many others seriously injured (including Calomel himself), Helstone was forcibly removed from office and former Governor Altias Bromn installed in his place.
Cinnabar recovered from his injuries enough to return to his duties after a time, and subsequently been involved in various actions against those who threaten Myrken Wood and its citizens. These have included the [[1]] of a number of members of the Order of the All, and a number of confrontations with the revenant Teron Ashfiend, including a joint assault by the Constabulary fought alongside the Shepherd Knights and the Gray Lancers against the ghoul's stronghold in the ruins of Snowstill Priory. The Ashfiend managed to escape after the battle, and soon after struck against the town of Foggy Bottom; Calomel's prompt response to the devastating attack and works to organise a combined relief effort with representatives from the Brotherhood of Janeiro and the Violet Dawn.
In August of AR 207 Calomel purchased lands owned by the late Jan Baker, a moderately wealthy landowner who was murdered in his home; the indentured workers were subsequently released from their contracts and granted tenancy of the farm itself. The celebration party in thanks for this release was interrupted by the Ashfiend, this time striking directly against Calomel and those associated with him; though the Fiend was driven off, a number of the farm's residents were slain.
Following this attack, in view of the long absence of Governor Bromn and the ongoing failure of the Judiciary Council to address the threats facing the territory, Calomel authorised and declared a transfer of authority from the Office of the Governor to himself in order that the people of Myrken Wood might be more satisfactorily served by their government. This transfer was later approved by Bromn himself following his return to Myrken.
