Description
Orin Barrin is the half-brother to Queen Mother Marian Aengus of Hibera. Sharing the same father, but with his mother having been from a whitewinged lineage, Orin lived until old age as a fairly gaunt, slim fairy utterly repulsed by his sibling's obesity. However, on helping head New Hibera's newfound devotion to the Tubbian faith, the doctor allowed himself to enjoy his meals and indulge heavily, eventually becoming as obese as the Queen Mother on the throne. He usually wears his robes that signify his role as the court physician, rarely venturing to dress in anything else. Orin's attitude is generally sober and serious, occasionally dipping into annoyance with the Queen Mother's occasional flights of fancy and apparent obliviousness.
Background
Origins
Dr. Barrin was born to a whitewinged fairy mother: the wife of the court physician of Richard Scott Aengus. He was meant to be the heir to the throne if the king's wife, Queen Marian I, had not become pregnant at the same time. With Richard Aengus being born to the throne first and with Orin clearly matching his mother's coloration over his pinkwinged royal father's, Orin was relegated to life as a whitewing, following in his adopted father's footsteps as court physician by his adulthood. Thus, Dr. Barrin has always remained in the immediate company of his only slightly older sibling--older by mere days. Slight jealousy has been displayed on rare occasions.
The Broken Dagger
Dr. Barrin rarely ever leaves The Eastern Reach of Hibera, staying very much at his half-sister's side most of the time. Therefore, he never visits most of Myrken Wood.
The Present
Orin faithfully serves the growing Hiberan royal family as his post and his filial loyalties dictate. With the bodily transformation of fairy King Richard Aengus into the Queen Mother Marian Aengus and her subsequent pregnancy and marriage, Dr. Barrin has only grown even more devoted, if possible, to protecting his now half-sister's health.
