Description

The portly fairy named William Aengus was always something of an outsider to the fairies living around him: to the then-small gathering of slender fairies in the woods surrounding what would eventually become Old Hibera, William was an oddity. First, he was the first fairy in the community to be born pink--an apparent aberration among his kind, the only others being a small handful of children born to various families a short time later. Second, he was the only fairy in the group to actually be fat, even from a young age. Being a social outcast for a condition he would prove unable to change, the young fairy dedicated himself openly to politics and secretly to wizardry, ultimately rising to the role of Mayor of the fledgling town of Hibera through a combination of means both fair and sneaky.

Background

Origins

Following his ascension to Mayor, William did two noteworthy things: he married the only other pinkwing fairy, the slightly younger girl, and he forced his way into establishing Hibera as a small kingdom instead of a simple town, setting himself on the throne as King William I and his wife as the Queen. His reign was very much serious, setting a no-nonsense tone for the beginning realm that he would reign over for his final 150 years. The end result of his leadership would be a gradual shift in social customs seen in color-based class divisions, officially culminated in and enforced by the Hiberan Color Laws written shortly before his death and his young son's ascension to the throne.

The Broken Dagger

William Aengus never ventured outside the immediate area that would become Old Hibera.

The Present

King William I is long since deceased, his chief legacy other than the Hiberan Color Laws being the ultimate continuation of the Aengus lineage through Queen Mother Marian Aengus; her husband, King Oswald Grimley Aengus, their four children, and her half-brother, court physician Dr. Orin Barrin--a family line that has in modern times seen an expansion of the Hiberan realm into two briefly divided and recently reunited lands.

Plots

William Aengus, being a deceased historical figure, has no major impact on ongoing plots in the Broken Dagger channel.
