James Aengus, nervous cousin to Richard Aengus of Old Hibera and New Hibera fame, served as Lord Protector of New Hibera in his older cousin's extended absence, a time in which the elder Aengus dedicated himself to staying in his Old Hiberan palace and studying biglings to learn more of their motives and actions. Upon James's being relieved of the title, he and his wife took to living in relative solitude among the upper-classed fairies of New Hibera. The couple passed in A. R. 207 in a human-brought plague that hit Old Hibera from A. R. 207 to 208, being part of a line of deaths (including the Queen of Old Hibera) that led to Oswald Aengus taking the throne.
