The Brothers apBlanc
Varian first appeared in Trae Kelsa some years ago, at the call of his elder brother, Tristen apBlanc. Under Tristen's command, Varian was an instrument of destruction. Summoned with the initial intent that he fell the group of marauders that Tristen once held leadership over, Varian remained within the realm even after the deed had been wrought.
Though both Varian and Tristen were Kindred, it was rumored that even in mortality, the two were brothers in the truest since. Varian even holds the surname of Tristen's mortal father.
The brothers apBlanc became well known in all of Trae Kelsa for being harbingers of sorrow and havoc. The Broken Dagger, more often than not, fell prey to the deceitful acts and deadly brawls inspired by the two.
It was the marriage of Tristen to a woman named Kyndra that first drove distance between the brothers. Kyndra disliked Varian and the traits which he seemed to draw forth from Tristen. During their marriage, the frequency of the meetings between the brothers became sparce, until Tristen and his bride left Trae Kelsa without even a word.
While Tristen was absent from his life, Varian began to construct what would eventually become his principality in Trae Kelsa.
Tristen returned intermittently, but the relationship between the two had become brittle and hostile. Tristen's second marriage, to Makoto, inspired Varian to cut ties completely with his brother and he set out to attain that which Tristen had failed to.
The Fiefdom
Varian apBlanc duMonde is perhaps the most successful Prince in Trae Kelsa's Kindred history. His rule over the vampires of the land was just and viciously strict. His reign followed closely behind the brief stint in which a creature named Renee Nightdragon claimed the title.
Varian is responsible for the creation of a sturdy society of Kindred, in which he held court and congress, mimicking those of the human world. Through both politics and war, Varian commanded the allegience of the region's most infamous and powerful vampires. At his side, his confidant and most trusted ally, Lucian was regarded as a ruthless and diabolical "guard dog" of the Prince.
In the wake of Varian's second marriage to Tremere known as Zzaryn, Varian fell into an overwhelming state of melancholy, during which Lucian became corrupt with infernal practices and betrayed the Prince. In the midst of the conflict between Varian and the Kindred who was once his Justicar, Varian severed one of Lucian's hands in retribution. In the end, Varian returned to the arms of Astraeana, a lover he had taken before and during his marriage to Zzaryn. Together, the two of them made plans to depart from the realm.
With disgust, Varian deconstructed his court and disappeared from Trae Kelsa for several years. During this absence, the title of Prince fell into the hands of a young Brujah, by the name of Undertaker and Lucian vanished. The Brujah was regarded by Varian before this time as the Son of Troile, a monicker that the Ventrue considered to be an insult.
The events that have taken place in Varian's unlife since that point are left to speculation and rumor; or word of mouth from the Ventrue himself. Now, Varian has returned to Trae Kelsa and has made his intentions to reclaim his throne clear.
The Gilded Lily
Since his return to Myrken Wood, Varian has tirelessly labored toward what he considers the improvement of the township, in any manner that he can manage. Going so far as to over-pay the past due taxes on his expansive estate, just beyond the borders of the realm, he has also set out to purchase several abandoned buildings within the town center. The theatre house now known as The Gilded Lily being the mantle piece of his new collection.
A large, dramatically designed building of multiple stories, the Lily has been restored, both inside and out, in preparation for its grand opening, yet to be announced.
An effort to recruit both staff and performers has been recently underway and news that Varian has employed his younger cousin, Kinneret duMonde Phillippe, are abound. In addition to the young woman's inheritance, an abundance of new faces have been sighted arriving and departing from the establishment, presumably seeking employment.
