Thomas Daniels

Thomas Daniels held the position of Captain of the Order of Straka for a number of years in Myrken Wood. His time as Captain was rather chaotic - he always tried to uphold the law to the word, even when (especially when) such decisions were highly unpopular with citizens and other officials of Myrken Wood. Forces in the Judiciary Council especially resisted his authority, ultimately leading to his resignation and the disbanding of the Order. Appearance Thomas is a picturesque soldier or guard; standing noticeably above six feet in height with hazel eyes, Thomas is built to fight even if his personality is far from brutish. He has blonde hair, usually cut short as per his profession and a handsome demeanor despite the many scars one earns from living by the sword. A failed attempt on his life while Captain of the Order of Straka left him with only one arm, though it is fortunate to be his dominant one. Other Description The ex-Straka Captain has always been handy with knives. Particularly throwing them, though he has no reputation for it (and for the better, to surprise his foes!). He began carrying around a set of throwing knives much more often after losing his arm as his swordsmanship suffered from the change of balance. History Born May 5, 175. In Myrken Wood Thomas and Robert Sullivan both joined the ranks of the Order of Straka as young men. They often worked together as partners and slowly climbed up the ranks to Corporals. One night during a Council meeting, they pair had Meetinghouse duty and were ordered by the Council to immediately apprehend the boy, Phlynn. After this, Thomas began garnering attention from the Councilors and the current Order Captain, Alexander Kanashia. As time went on and Kanashia planned his own resignation, he recommended that Thomas take up the station as Captain - despite being outranked by many in the Order. But, the Council all agreed and so began a more difficult task. Over his short years in the office, Captain Daniels publically disagreed with many on the Council, especially the Governor, Altias Bromn. As one might imagine, his popularity with the Council wasn't much, and his popularity with many of the locals took a hit when he arrested a group outside of the Broken Dagger for a number of killings, including the bartender Mikhail and Altias' own bodyguard, Ariane Carnath-Emory. Their trial took place and, naturally, the Council dropped all charges. The most difficult time for the Captain started when Thomas discovered a connection between Councilor Suede Roschen and the infamous Black Market. The Captain launched an immediate investigation which resulted in a number of 'subtle' counters - including an attempt on the Captain's key witness, Sill Darridan-Babtista, the brutal dismemberment and killing of Sergeant Jack Hickensen, and the slow death of funds being redirected away from the Order of Straka which ultimately culminated in Thomas' resignation and the Order's demise. Though the Barracks has been taken over by the Brotherhood of Janerio, no one's sure where the evidence Thomas had acquired against Councilor Roschen is. Outside Myrken Wood Daniels and Sullivan were born in a small town in Derry, not as brothers. Robert was an orphan whom Thomas befriended at an early age - so much so that Thomas' parents decided to adopt Robert, and though they never called each other by it, Daniels and Sullivan treated each other like brothers for the rest of their lives. Both boys were interested early on in swordplay, often play-fighting with wooden swords. When they were old enough, they eagerly took up the sharper, more dangerous swords and trained under a Sergeant in the local militia. Life was good for the boys, until the day Thomas' parents were killed in a bandit attack. It happened during a parade - the bandits had slipped in in all the commotion, assaulting people in the chaotic crowd - including Thomas' mother. While his father fought back savagely, he was brought down by the opposing numbers. Thomas was shot as well, dragged away to safety by Robert. After that day, the boys left Derry for Myrken Wood to start over. Current Status Thomas left Myrken Wood following his resignation to return to Derry and find some peace and quiet. - Rattrap 12:04, 14 November 2006 (PST)
