Description

Porcus appears as an elderly, obese sow pig with long, gray, bristly fur bordering on silver. Like her human counterpart of Marta, Porcus is eternally in a very late stage of pregnancy. Both mother goddesses, though, despite their gravid states, are always ready to conceive and carry more children, as well as to deliver the ones they carry.

Mythos Details

Porcus is in the same pantheon as The Creator, The Glutton, Libri, and various others that often tie into worship and study by those of the Church of Tubbius. Initially a mortal body taken on by The Glutton in an attempt to procreate and to feast away from his usual self, Porcus ultimately achieved a minor measure of divinity as a secondary facet of The Glutton's immortal body. Early beliefs of her followers varied on the sow's origins, with some seeing her as a divine pet of Tubbius and with others seeing her as a variant form of either Tubbius or Marta. Her role as both fertility goddess and as a divine carrier of piglets waiting to be born to their earthly mothers was correctly established early on, though, which allowed the Gray Pig to continue her divine existence properly. Ultimately, as time passed, Porcus was absorbed into regular worship by the Church of Tubbius, explaining their devotion to caring for pigs as part of their order. The details around her setting have expanded slightly over the years: acknowledged to live in what is known as the Endless Wallow, she is the regular mate of her male counterpart, a boar named Hoggum. The two are attended by a red-bearded, great-bellied man named Biggenbottom, who acts as their faithful servant.

Background

Origins

Among the gods and goddesses of The Creator's pantheon, Porcus was a reasonably late addition to the collective, the product of The Glutton's attempts to reach outside his originally appointed region and duties.

The Broken Dagger

Porcus will never appear bodily in the Broken Dagger; she cares nothing for human concerns, perfectly blissful to have her mate, her endless supply of slop, her muddy wallow, and her children.

The Present

Porcus, even though a portion of The Glutton, lives independently of him and his desires. She is certainly aware of her situation, although she has no desire or capability to alter such, being devoted to the purpose for which she was created.

Plots

The Gray Pig has not been involved in any ongoing plots in Myrken Wood but is frequently mentioned and worshiped by Aloisius Treadwell and the Church of Tubbius alongside their regular devotions to Tubbius and Marta.
