Von Eberzahn

In centuries past the von Eberzahn family held ancestral claim to the lands that now comprise Myrken Wood. Feudal lords under the rule of the Kingdom of Amasynia, few details are known of this noble house save that their line died out more than a century and a half ago. Of what few ancient tales remain, some speak of a family afflicted by some baleful curse; others of a bloodline plagued by madness and prone to terrible excesses; yet other accounts tell of some dire monster that came from the forests of Myrken and slew the entire household in the space of a night. The only thing upon which the legends agree is that some dark fate overcame them, and they are no more.

Since the family line has long since been extinguished and any official records long since lost, all that remains of the von Eberzahns is their coat of arms, now used as the official insignia of the Government of Myrken Wood, and the ruined foundations of some ancient fastness, long since fallen to rubble and reclaimed by the forest in a mountain valley above Silver Lake.
