Robert Sullivan
Information

Robert Sullivan was a Corporal with the Order of Straka, rarely seen without his partner and life-long friend Thomas Daniels until they later parted ways after the disbanding of the Order. He then moved back to Derry with his daughter. Gruff and often testing the limits of acceptable treatment of criminals, Sullivan was never high on the list for promotions, though he did earn recognition for his efforts in protecting then-Governer Gad Phuri.

Appearance

Sullivan stands respectably just under six feet in height with a broad, solid brawler's frame with a chin and jaw to match. He has dark green eyes and darker brown hair which is always cut short due to his virtually life-long career as a guardsman. Like anyone in his profession for any length of time, Sullivan has a good number of scars to show - leaving his already somewhat less than handsome visage to be even less so. He often remarks that it is fortunate that his daughter got her mother's looks.

Other Description

Despite what his build may suggest, Sullivan is a surprisingly agile individual, thanks to steady and consistent training over decades. He favors bucklers and wonders why they aren't standard issue; a small piece of metal can make a huge difference.

History

Born May 25, 176.

In Myrken Wood

Robert came to Myrken Wood from Derry with Daniels when they were just youths, after the murder of Thomas' parents. They lived on their own, just old enough to survive - when the chance came to join up with the Order of Straka, the two boys jumped at the chance and would remain among the guard ranks for some twenty years.

Robert and Thomas were paired up by request and worked their way from the ground up, doing everything from horribly boring Meetinghouse guard duty to the more scenic patrols - not necessarily in that order. They experienced much - battles with monsters outside the Broken Dagger with Elil and Victory, the same tavern full of hosility as they extracted the boy Phlynn through a window (their only means of escape due to said hosility).

The most interesting thing to happen to Robert in his time in Myrken Wood was the abduction by the creature simply known as Memory. The Corporal was taken along with Aloisius Treadwell, who at the time was still impersonating the late Governor Gad Phuri. They were held in a subterranean cave for around a week or more, in an oddly...civilized manner. Their host fed them and never threatened them, and even gave Robert a mystical sword he came to name Mythragolddamus - which infused the Corporal with the ability to detect the presence and sometimes even the surface thoughts of wolves, as well as other, more drastic transformations. They were eventually found and saved by a Straka rescue party, including Captain Alexander Kanashia and Daniels.

As time wore on, Robert found Myrken Wood was simply too dangerous to raise his daughter, Serena, and stepped down from the Order of Straka to leave Myrken Wood for his hometown in Derry.

Outside Myrken Wood

Daniels and Sullivan were born in a small town in Derry, not as brothers. Robert was an orphan whom Thomas befriended at an early age - so much so that Thomas' parents decided to adopt Robert, and though they never called each other by it, Daniels and Sullvian treated each other like brothers for the rest of their lives.

Both boys were interested early on in swordplay, often play-fighting with wooden swords. When they were old enough, they eagerly took up the sharper, more dangerous swords and trained under a Sergeant in the local militia. Life was good for the boys, until the day Thomas' parents were killed in a bandit attack.

It happened during a parade - the bandits had slipped in in all the commotion, assaulting people in the chaotic crowd - including Thomas' mother. While his father fought back savagely, he was brought down by the opposing numbers. Thomas was shot as well, dragged away to safety by Robert.

After that day, the boys left Derry for Myrken Wood to start over.

Current Status

Robert is living in Derry with his daughter, Serena and enjoying the peace and quiet.
