Lord Protector: The title placed on James Aengus, cousin to Richard Aengus of New Hibera, shortly before Richard's thirty-one year disappearance to live as one of the biglings. It was meant as a temporary post, one for the Lord Protector to be relieved of upon the king's safe return to being a fairy, as ended up being the case. Its duties were essentially the same as those that the king might have had with the sole exception of having to report to the distant, reigning queen of Old Hibera, every six months.
On the return of Richard Aengus to the throne, this title and post were ceremonially stripped, and the former Lord Protector was left to go about living a normal, upper-classed life similar to those of the white-winged fairies within the kingdom.
