Description
Background
Origins
Born and raised in a cove of 'The Sea', Mneme's life was eventful from the day she was born. The moon was full, shining on her pale scales and silvery-white hair. The Elders gasped, whispered not so much of prophecy as.. intent and fate. There was a special thing about the girl, her tie to the moon so strong that it coloured her body. She didn't cry or weep, and she was quiet for the first hours of her life-- a strange thing, if one knows babies.
Twelve hours later and in the full of the noonday-sun, another was born, orange-gold and.. dull. This baby was sick, dying even as she was birthed. Everything was tried, every trick and ritual, every prayer and medicine. Finally, as day wound down to night and Elder had a thought. Sun and Moon, Meera and Mneme. The two were brought together, and by morning Meera was on her way to health. Mneme would be forever marked by the streak in her pale hair, though no one knows truly what happened that night.
The two would be forever friends, Meera getting them both into trouble as often as they got out of it; Mneme far more quiet and gentle, shy.
The Broken Dagger
One night, a shining thing appeared in the sky and fell into the lake. This was Mneme. She has no idea how she was transported, no idea of the reasons and circumstances around her relocation. The mermaid doesn't even know how she's managing to breath the lake's fresh water! Without any knowledge of where her home is in relation to Myrken Wood, she's currently stuck where she is.
The Present
Mneme spends most of her time in and around Silver Lake. She's made her home somewhere in it, though Talyn's camp is often frequented.
