Fairy magic

Fairy magic, of course, varies based on where the fairies hail from and how much they use their own magical prowess. The fairies of Old and New Hibera hold a number of already disclosed magical and natural abilities.

Most visible among these powers would be the aura that each Old and New Hiberan fairy glows; this is a naturally evolved extension of the fairy dust, below, that serves as a biologically natural source of light in the caves in which these fairies often have to live or hide. In some ways, this quality is similar to that of luminescent lichens and various glow-worms.

Most notable among these is the infamous "fairy dust." For these fae, this is truly an organic mixture sprinkled like dust from their fingertips, and it possesses one chief quality: to make something sprinkled drowsy enough to fall asleep. In heavily concentrated amounts, such as what is carried in vials thrown by the New Hiberan Royal Guard, it can be potentially lethal, forcing an almost instantaneous restriction of blood flow in and around the heart if it hits one's chest.

Some of the fairies--the white-winged mages--possess considerable healing powers honed by centuries of practice, although these abilities are certainly not shared by the populace at large.

Finally, on a more natural front, fairies from this stock possess the ability to fly (given their thin, shimmery, sparkly wings that serve as one more natural conduit of their fairy dust) and innate resistances to spider venom and similar poisons from ages of battling these vicious beasts on their own turf.
