Councilor for Trade, Commerce and Industry
Current Councilor
The post of Councilor for Trade, Commerce and Industry is currently held by Councilor Nikolas Romanova.
Responsibilities
Trade
The Councilor's main areas of responsibility involve his jurisdiction over the import of goods into and export of goods out of Myrken Wood, including the levying of tariffs and restrictions upon certain types of trade goods, and taking steps to encourage the flow of trade through the territory.
Commerce
The Councilor's domestic duties primarily concern working towards the improved prosperity of Myrken Wood and its citizens by means of encouraging fair trade, productive industry and profitable commerce. This mainly consists of resolving complaints by and disputes between merchants, artisans and captains of industry, ensuring that the various interests of masters, workers and the general public are properly balanced.
The Councilor is expected to coordinate with the Councilor for Revenue and Finance in order to ensure that fair prices are charged for goods sold to the citizenry of Myrken Wood, and may impose fines on vendors who engage in such reprehensible practises as price-gouging, participating in cartels with the aim of artificially inflating prices, and other such activities which are not in the public interest.
