This magical crossbow was made by hired Wizards for the dragon hunter, Damien. The crossbow took a small fortune to create - all the finest materials were used in its physical construction, though the great majority of the cost came from its magical endowments. It was taken by Dante after Damien was left for dead in Myrken's forests, later taken by Jirai after Dante's demise.

The crossbow appears like any other, except that it lacks a string or a slot for bolts. Instead, there is a crystal in their place - one that acts as if there were a string acting on it (even though it isn't physically touching anything, it's still attached to the crossbow). In order to fire the weapon, the crystal is drawn back in much the same way a bolt would be. Upon pulling the trigger, the crystal launches forward - though it's a magical projectile that actually fires.

The strength of the projectile is based on how far back the crystal is pulled; one can fire the crossbow relatively quickly by pulling only slightly, resulting in smaller, less powerful projectiles. These can still be dangerous to humanoids, but less so to the weapon's designed target, Dragons.

The type of projectiles are somewhat random - which is where the crossbow gets its name. The crystal can be turned (instead of pulled) to change the elemental basis for the projectiles: red for fire, blue for water, green for rock, and yellow for lightning. These selections can be made, but what the crossbow produces in each category is random; for example, when set to blue, the crossbow can either produce a powerful (but mostly harmless) stream of water, or a much more dangerous piercing shard of ice. Likewise, when set to green, any type of Earthen material may be produced - from dirt to obsidian. The red and yellow settings are perhaps the most useful, as fire and lightning are generally always lethal.

Fully powered, the weapon is capable of taking down even elder Dragons in a single, critical blow. When used on smaller, humanoid opponents, the crossbow's capable of complete annihilation even against fully armored opponents; in fact, it can almost be classified as a siege weapon given the high rate of destruction from a fully powered fire blast, for example. However, there is a delay from trigger pull to projectile launched depending on the charge level to allow the elemental energies to conjure the selected element.

The crossbow's crystal is charged by the sunlight, usually replenishing its energy entirely in the course of a day or in good moon light. Should the crytal be smashed or broken, the crossbow would release tremendous energy in the form of an explosion. A fully charged smashed crystal could likely level the surroundings. The power level can be read by the brightness of the crystal.
