Our town..

Great play depicting true Americana?...well yeah but that's not the topic i was going for....

No this has to do with Myrken township...since i started up the Waystation storyline...i've been woundering about the look of the town...i mean i have a general picture in my head...but i was thinking more specifics...Is the tailors shop next to the toystore?...

Is the Gaol close to the townhalls...are all the business situated in one part of town, and the residenace another?....

I know the Dagger is on the outskirts of town, walking distance...and i have place the waystation on the opposing side of twon..but where is everything in the middle?..

What do you imagine the layout of Myrkentownship to be?

The toy store. . . I've always pictured it being right there reasonably close or next to the Meetinghouse, which has its whereabouts detailed on the website.

I've always pictured it as vaguely circular, with the meetinghouse/town hall as a miniature citadel at its heart. Very, very miniature. *g* But with the various homes and businesses located in concentric arcs around it, with the Straka rooms and barracks somewhere nearer to the outskirts, and the jaol certainly probably set quite near to them. There's also a church somewhere, I believe -- reasonably central again, in my mental picture, complete with tall bell-tower. Because dangit, I love tall bell-towers... *cackles*

I've usually imagined the town as being fairly seperated from the Dagger - tall grasses and trees on a curved path towards the town ... but the town itself, I see as being fairly linear, with a few twists - even cobblestones ._. Though I would assume it would either be a very small closely knit town where all of the structures touch one another and seem to huddle together - or very spread out so there is about a fifth of a mile between everything. I think I like the first better.

In a general sense, does it really matter how the town is laid out specifically?

Everyone has their own view and their own opinion on how large or how clustered the town is. Some people will view it in a spread out fashion, some will perceive it in a far more clustered perspective. Some view it as being well planned and others view it as being a chaotic design with twisting and turning streets.

Overall, there are a few places that probably deserve specific mention, but for the most part, keeping everything in a state of flux is probably for the best. Then we don't miss out on anything, we don't force people to adhere to one specific guideline and people can improvise.

Our combined imaginations created Myrken. I don't think it's right to interpret others perceptions into our own.

Heck, the Dagger itself seems to change weekly with the kitchen growing and shrinking, the number of rooms altering...heck, I believe I read somewhere that there's two hearths in the Dagger. People forget that too...and if we have so much trouble with one building...what're the odds we're going to be able to sort out an entire town?

Indeed! I like the fact that we all have different views about Myrken. There is a little more flexability having things that are general in nature... hearths being a great example. I interpret Myrken a little differently every time I play. Even so, I like knowing how other people see the places and people (creatures as well ^~)
