Aiger-na is the common name of an apocryphal demon in some peasant folk varietials of the One True Faith.

The common tale says that, hundreds of years ago, the man Aiger became obsessed with the idea of living in his body forever. Pursuing that idea, which is counter to the wishes of the One God, strayed into heretical witchcraft. Eventually, his mind became so twisted by evil magic that he began to preach a belief that the blood of dead children could be used to turn back the passage of time.

He slaughtered dozens of children before his actions twisted him irrevocably. Damned by the One God -- who despises such murders -- each child killed in cold blood brings him closer and closer to the immortality he so desires, and he haunts the land to this day in bloody search of his dream --

-- or so it is said. The story is primarily apocryphal, and "high-church" members of the One True Faith in western Amasynia put little stock in it.

Peasant parents of the Faith in Myrken Wood, however, often use Aiger-na as an admonishment (i.e., "eat your peas, or Aiger-na will take you."). At St. Iona's, his story is often used as a cautionary tale to encourage initiates and adults to keep to orthodox beliefs.
